We are looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join us at our Berlin office (hybrid) or remotely in Brussels - these two locations work best for the position's needs. We are growing and need support in our mission to build a more sustainable and sovereign digital ecosystem in Europe.

As a Public Affairs Manager at Ecosia, you will help shape the political and regulatory environment around search, digital markets, competition, AI, European digital sovereignty, and sustainability. Day-to-day, you will engage with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, civil society organizations, and strategic partners. You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments, develop policy positions, represent Ecosia in external forums, and help build coalitions that can support meaningful change. Part-time is possible.

  • Develop and advocate for Ecosia’s policy positions on digital markets, competition, AI, platform regulation, European digital sovereignty, sustainability, and related topics.

  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders at the European, national, and international level.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their implications for Ecosia’s business and mission.

  • Draft policy papers, consultation responses, briefing materials, speeches, and stakeholder communications.

  • Represent Ecosia at conferences, workshops, public hearings, and meetings with policymakers and regulators.

  • Coordinate internal policy projects across teams, ensuring alignment between public affairs, communications, legal, product, and business priorities.

  • Back coalition-building initiatives with partners committed to a more open, sustainable, and democratic digital ecosystem.

Your areas of knowledge and proficiency
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in public affairs, public policy, government relations, competition policy, digital policy, or a related field.

  • You have a solid understanding of policies in the area of European competition policy, the Digital Markets Act, digital platform regulation, or AI policy.

  • You can communicate clearly and persuasively in written and spoken English and preferably also in German.

Our eng & product teams work in a cross-functional set-up, forming 7 teams.

Where is Ecosia based, and what kind of work setup do we have?

We are a remote-friendly company with one office in Berlin-Wedding. People come to the office or work from home as per their wishes and/or circumstances. Some roles require presence in the office at least from time to time.

Can I apply if I want to work remotely?

Please note that in order for us to consider you for a remote EOR candidacy, you should be based in a CE(S)T +/- 2 hours location due to our core hours and ways of working.
