The top responsibilities of a Psychiatrist include discussing with patients and observing their behaviors to identify mental disorders, determining treatments and prescribing medications. To be considered for this role, you need to be licensed as a Psychiatrist and certified from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS).

Requirements
Skills Required
- Licensed as a Psychiatrist
- Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS)
- MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of a Psychiatry residency program
- Work experience as a Psychiatrist
- In-depth knowledge of psychotherapeutic methods
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain medical terms to non-medical audiences
- Strong observation skills to evaluate patient demeanor and identify symptoms
- Compassionate bedside manner and ability to manage severe mental disorders calmly
- Ability to coordinate with healthcare professionals and manage hospitalization when required
