Prototype Fabrication Engineer

We're seeking a Prototype Fabrication Engineering Technician to join our New Concept Development and Field Mitigation team. This role involves participating in early concept design, manufacturing prototypes, and working closely with engineering teams to build and test mechanical sub-systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with machine shop operations, electro-mechanical assembly, and the ability to contribute to design meetings and machine validation processes.
What you'll work on:
- Participation in early concept design, risk identification, and failure analysis.
- Manufacturing of prototype and production parts using in-house machine shop.
- Aid members of the machine shop in machine maintenance, ensuring proper machine operation, and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Working with engineering, define and build prototype mechanical sub-systems.
- Perform a variety of electromechanical assemblies.
- Create and/or follow applicable documentation and instructions to assemble electro-mechanical subassemblies and finished-level products.
- Participate in design meetings/reviews, machine debugging, power-up, and machine validation and testing with the appropriate functional teams.
What we're looking for:
- Experience using a mill, lathe, laser cutter, 3D Printers, and common hand tools. Willing to undergo training to develop necessary skills for operating CNC mill and CNC lathe.
- Working knowledge of industrial automation components such as pneumatics, sensors, motors & drives, robots, power trains, general machine design, technical drawing preparation, various manufacturing techniques, knowledge of materials and general fabrication techniques.
- 3D CAD software experience: PTC CREO preferred.
- Proficient understanding of part and assembly drawings: familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, and good organization skills.
- Willingness to travel to install or retrofit components in the field.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, supply chain, or related area and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
