As a Protective Coatings Technical Manager, you will support all channels of distribution within Pittsburgh Paints Company including company-owned stores, Independent Dealers, and Home Centers (The Home Depot, Walmart, Menards, etc.). Internal and external customer requests range from product recommendations to trending and analysis, extended warranties, complaint resolution, and in-depth failure analysis. These requests are received daily via telephone, email, social media, fax and standard mail.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site and remote technical support for proper selection, application, and performance of protective coatings.
Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate coating solutions tailor to their industry and application requirements.
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and performance expectations.
Deliver training sessions to contractors, applicators, and end-users on coating application techniques, safety protocols, and product features
Develop and present technical documentation, application guides, and troubleshooting tips
Assist in evaluating coating performance, including adhesion, durability and environmental resistance
Investigate and resolve coating failures or complaints by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
Manage Field Technical Service Representatives and protective product warranty process
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and distributors by providing exceptional service and technical expertise
Prepare detailed reports on service activities, customer feedback, and technical issues for management review
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in any field, or significant paint-related work experience in lieu of a degree, and 5+ years of proven track record in a technical, analytical or similar role.
Data Analytic skills including critical thinking, data visualization and presentation skills, in addition to, Project Management training, NACE, SSPC, or MPI certifications are highly desired.
Previous experience/knowledge in coatings, including residential, commercial, and high-performance systems, or architectural coatings sales or field experience, would also be highly regarded.
