Prospect Researcher

£27,000 - £32,000 plus benefits

Reports to: Senior Prospect Development Manager

Directorate: Strategy & Philanthropy

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

Our sector leading Philanthropy team have an exciting opportunity to join as a Prospect Researcher.  We are looking for a diligent, detailed orientated individual with strong research and communication skills to join the team.

As a Prospect Researcher within the Prospect Development team you will deliver research support on individuals and trusts/foundations in a variety of fundraising areas to drive income for the Philanthropy directorate. You will also be responsible for delivering research support for due diligence so that the Philanthropy directorate is compliant with the charity’s Know Your Donor policy.

As a part of the wider CRUK fundraising efforts, the Philanthropy Directorate is one of the largest and most successful fundraising teams in the UK. An ambitious and innovative team of 60 talented philanthropy professionals, our focus is the £400m ‘More Research, Less Cancer’ (MRLC) campaign which has four key priorities: the Francis Crick Institute, Cancer Grand Challenges, Translation & Innovation, and our Future Leaders’ programme. We’ve recently reached the milestone of £200m.  

This is a great opportunity for some with strong research skills, whether from an academic background, previous prospecting role or previous charity experience, whatever your background you’ll have proven ability to collect and assess information rapidly, identifying key points and drawing conclusions.  In return you’ll join an award-winning team with lots of development opportunities and the chance to feel the impact of your work in our mission to beat cancer.

What will I be doing?

  • Ensure accurate completion of due diligence requests according to agreed SLAs and in accordance with the Know Your Donor policy.

  • Deliver and support prospect research projects to agreed standards and in line with Philanthropy’s strategy and goals.

  • Compile full and accurate research on individuals, trusts and foundations in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

  • Deliver varied and responsive research support of high standard for events of all types.

  • Communicate research and insight effectively with all stakeholders

  • Undertake database maintenance and high-quality data entry, complying with internal processes and in line with Data Protection.

  • Proven experience in research and  strong analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proven ability to collect and assess information rapidly, identifying key points and drawing conclusions.

  • Ability to prioritise, manage conflicting deadlines, work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks to deadline. 

  • Ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with various stakeholders

  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal form.

  • Ability to work to a brief and understand stakeholder requirements.
