We Require

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited and American Bar Association (ABA) approved law school

  • Three years of experience as an attorney practicing criminal law or six years of experience as an attorney practicing in any other area

Other Requirements

  • Must be admitted to practice law and be in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona by the time of hire

  • Valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire

  • May require overtime availability to respond to after-hour inquiries

Job Contributions

  • Represent the State before the Grand Jury

  • Review and prepare cases for presentation to the Grand Jury

  • Work with and prepare law enforcement witnesses for testimony in front of a Grand Jury

  • Answer legal questions asked by Grand Jurors

  • Assist with reviewing cases to make charging decisions

  • Comply with all rules regulating professional responsibility

  • Cover court and other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Courtroom setting in a high volume, fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations. May require extended periods of sitting while completing paperwork, standing, and moving about while performing duties

  • Ability to travel to and from various County locations for court appearances, meetings, and training, utilizing personal or County-owned vehicles

  • Ability to move up to 20 pounds

  • Grand Jury presentations are conducted in person but there is an opportunity for some teleworking after the first year of employment
