ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Propulsion Engineer, Performance to enhance our Propulsion team. This role is critical in developing and optimizing advanced propulsion systems to meet our aggressive and innovative goals. You will be responsible for simulation and development of air breathing propulsion systems along with supporting flight testing as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Own detailed design of individual engine components from conceptual phase into production.
- Drive prototype testing and design of experiments to optimize designs prior to release.
- Design with a heavy focus for manufacturing and assembly at production rates.
- Own architectural layouts and design trade studies for future products.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities, including process improvement, efficiency improvement and development of data analysis techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in gas turbine engine testing, controls, analysis and integration.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in transient modeling/simulation of gas turbine engines
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems
- Proven expertise in development of gas turbine engine transient models in NPSS (preferred), Simulink, or other proprietary equivalent
- Experience in turbine engine distortion sensitivity analysis or testing (SAE ARP 1420, AIR 1419)
- Experience conducting engine stability assessments or audits (SAE AIR 5656)
- Professional experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) or other CAD packages
- Experience in evaluating or analyzing component instability (Compressors, Combustors)
- Experience conducting 1D sizing of turbomachinery components
- Experience with aerodynamic rig testing techniques for turbomachinery components
- Professional experience developing variable geometry schedules (Inlet Guide Vane, Variable Exhaust Nozzles, etc.)
- Experience with Internal Combustion Engines
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
