Role Purpose

Own end-to-end delivery of technical, asset-replacement, and infrastructural projects on site, for one of our major global energy clients with a diverse portfolio across traditional and renewable energy sectors.
 

Act as the client's single point of contact for all operational project matters, while ensuring the team executes to a consistent project management methodology, protects scope, schedule and budget, and operates safely within a live industrial and laboratory environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for the client on all operational project questions; manage expectations and communication cadence
  • Align with the maintenance organisation on new project requests, feasibility, and prioritisation
  • Chair steering committee and status meetings; escalate issues with recommended options, not just problems

Project Governance & Delivery

  • Ensure all project managers follow the defined PM process and methodology (stage gates, templates, change control, closeout)
  • Own scope control — manage change requests formally and prevent scope creep
  • Steer planning, critical path, and interdependencies across a multi-project portfolio
  • Own budget adherence — track CAPEX/OPEX, forecast vs. actual, and report variances
  • Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality standards before handover to operations/maintenance

Team & Resource Management

  • Hold HR line responsibility: performance management, coaching, development plans, and hiring input
  • Manage team capacity and utilization across concurrent projects; resolve resource conflicts
  • Ensure on-site presence and coverage appropriate to project phases and safety needs

Risk & Issue Management

  • Maintain a live risk register at both project and portfolio level; drive mitigation actions to closure
  • Own the issue escalation path and maintain a decision log for traceability

HSE & Compliance

Ensure all projects comply with site safety, permit-to-work, and lab-specific protocols (e.g. LOTO, hazardous materials handling, Management of Change)

  • Coordinate with EHS/QA functions on commissioning and handover of experimental or regulated installations
  • Ensure contractor safety compliance, site inductions, and adherence to permit requirements

Procurement & Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinate with procurement on technical scopes, vendor selection, and contract performance
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships for specialised technical work

Change Management & Handover

  • Ensure formal handover to maintenance/operations, including as-built documentation, spares lists, and training
  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process for modifications

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide portfolio-level status reporting to leadership (schedule, cost, safety, and quality KPIs)
  • Drive lessons-learned reviews and continuously improve PM process and templates
  • Maintain project documentation standards and ensure audit-readiness

Functie-eisen

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field
  • PMP certification (PMI) required or in progress; PRINCE2 also acceptable
  • 7–10+ years managing technical or infrastructural projects, including at least 3 years in a team-lead or PMO-type role
  • Experience in industrial, process, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of HSE regulations relevant to industrial and laboratory sites
  • Experience with project controls tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, ERP/CAPEX systems)
