Job DescriptionNordstrom Data and Analytical Services Team is seeking a Manager, Technical Program Management to complement our exciting event-driven Product Data Plane. As a Technical Program Manager at Nordstrom, you will lead complex and cross team programs to drive the vision and technology along with our software engineers and business stakeholders. This vision will enable real-time data consumption by technology and analytical teams across Nordstrom, including our machine learning platform to develop and implement exciting and captivating Customer-focused features and services

A day in the life…

Comfortable operating in time horizons of 6-12 months. Defines and evolves strategic vision and roadmap for their portfolio of programs in collaboration with product, program, and engineering partners.

Understands the strategic vision and helps ensure that requirements capture both short-term goals and anticipate long-term foundational needs in a way that reduces the cost and complexity of making future changes to our systems.

Owns direct communication with the executive team.

Manages a team of Technical Program Managers. Responsible for mentoring and development of the TPMs with high expectations around individual ownership and impact. Typically functions as the portfolio-level program lead supporting 2-6 Technical Program Managers.

Uses various sources of data (customer feedback, operational data, surveys, and experiments) to inspire TPMs to evolve, innovate, improve, and simplify products and processes in their domain

Hire capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs

Develops appropriate metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement with a focus on improved output.

Fosters team culture centered on meeting commitments, skillfully negotiating dependencies, efficiently removing impediments, and predictable delivery.

Understands the main goals and priorities of major initiatives within JWN, including their business outcomes and why they are prioritized.

You own this if you have…

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.

6+ years professional experience of technical program management delivering large complex programs/projects in a technical environment

2+ years’ experience in technical leadership role.

Technology background, especially in a cloud-based architecture with a deep understanding of software development, passion for data and analytics

Proven track record of leading large cross-functional software projects.

Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
