To manage projects on behalf of client/s for all phases of the project, including the 6 stages of the project rollout process.
Project Management
- Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
- Prepares Letters of Appointment for the procurement of Consulting Team.
- Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated
- Plans, organizes, manages, and coordinates the programme control and project management
- Oversees other project support activities, such as quality assurance, configuration control, project interface, environmental mitigation monitoring, systems integration, property and right-of-way acquisition, administration of interagency agreements, contracts administration and procurement, community relations, and management and administrative services support
- Monitors budget and schedule performance, implements cost and schedule control procedures, and implements elements of the quality assurance program
Manages client relationships
- Reports to clients about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated
- Builds good relationships between client, consulting and construction teams
Coordination of sub-contractors and supervision of project staff
- Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed
- Supervises assistant project managers, reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety violations or other reported deficiencies
- Selects and coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project
- Reviews and monitors activities of the Project Management Team regularly
- Manages the daily activities of the project team
Administration
- Coordinates the completion of all required project documentation and reporting within specified deadlines, including: Minutes, Progress Reports, Management reports, Quality Reports, Monthly reports
- Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses
- Timely communication of project status and issues, and maintains technical and administrative control for projects
Qualifications
Qualifications / Knowledge:
BSc Degree or BTech Degree or Diploma in the Built Environment
C.CPM /C.CM Registration with the SACPCMP
Ideal: Membership with registered accreditation body
- Knowledge and understanding of the Basic Principles of Law of Contracts
- Knowledge and understanding of Construction Contracts.
- Knowledge of Construction Science
- Knowledge of Construction Processes
- Knowledge of Design Processes
- Knowledge of Financial and Cost Processes
- Knowledge of regulations relating to the Built Environment industry
Experience:
Minimum: 8-10 years’ experience in the Built environment, of which 4 years’ experience or more is in construction management and construction project management
Experience in multi-tenant, mixed use precinct that is phased over a duration of approximately 2 years' will be advantageous
