The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading high priority New Product commercialization programs in Consumer Business Group (CBG)
- Accountable for managing the timeline, resourcing, critical issue resolution and progress of the cross-functional development team.
- Leading a cross-functional team of scientists, engineers, and business personnel to define areas of opportunity, value proposition, technical approaches, intellectual property, and manufacturing options ultimately leading to successful commercialization.
- Being accountable for maintaining project schedule, scope, deliverables, budget, risk management, stakeholder/customer communication and approvals, and other key project deliverables.
- Providing task-level guidance to team members as necessary and using influence to lead the team in identifying key milestones and driving decisions to closure.
- Having expertise in technical functional areas sufficient to carry out leadership duties, contribute to advancement of the team, and to effectively leverage a network of company resources.
- Having expertise in Project Management Methodologies to advance capabilities of self and team
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Six (6) years of project management and/or team leadership in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline from an accredited institution
- Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- New product development experience
- Consumer product development experience
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
- Ability to influence including clarifying risks and opportunities with stakeholders
- Experience leading global cross-functional teams
- Microsoft Office and Project proficient
- Experience with New Product Introduction Process and Executing Gate Reviews
Work location:
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
- Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
