We are seeking a highly organized and culturally fluent Project Manager Contractor, serving as the key liaison between our internal teams and our Japanese client stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and relationship-management skills, strong project coordination experience, and the ability to bridge cultural and business expectations between U.S. and Japanese partners.
This role requires fluency in Japanese and English and a deep understanding of Japanese business etiquette, communication style, and decision-making culture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, managing all project timelines, deliverables, and communications.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (marketing, product, creative, operations, and finance) to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within scope.
- Translate and interpret communications (verbal and written) between Japanese and English-speaking stakeholders as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong, respectful relationships with client counterparts in Japan.
- Anticipate client needs, identify potential issues early, and proactively develop solutions.
- Prepare detailed project documentation including timelines, progress reports, and post-project reviews.
- Ensure that project goals align with both client expectations and internal business objectives.
- Manage budgets, track project costs, and support forecasting and invoicing accuracy.
- Support senior leadership in client meetings, presentations, and strategic discussions.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Japanese and English (spoken and written) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of project management or client management experience, preferably with Japanese clients or multinational companies.
- Strong understanding of Japanese culture, communication norms, and corporate structure.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Asana, Monday and Jira
- Experience working cross-functionally across marketing, creative, and operations teams a plus.
- PMP or Agile certification preferred but not required.
