Job Description:

As part of the global controls team, you will work with highly motivated engineers, experts, and innovators in the data center industry. You will be responsible for innovating, deploying, and optimizing the automation and monitoring systems within company data centers. Systems include building automation systems (BAS), data center inventory management (DCIM), and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). You will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space. You will also be able to grow your career on both technical and management tracks.

Skills/Responsibilities/Knowledge:


• Manage scope, and schedule of BMS, DCIM, and EPMS vendors of CyrusOne data centers.

• Develop scope of work for site improvement projects.

• Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigate complex situations.

• Review controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.

• Financially manage BMS and EPMS contracts and assist in procurement related activities including RFPs, responding to RFIs, review of vendors proposal, and issuance of purchase orders.

• Perform comprehensive review of various BMS and EPMS submittals.

• Ensure data center BMS and EPMS system are being deployed in accordance with scope of work (SOW) and specifications.

• Review and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings.

• Attend project related meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report status to Operations System management.

• Work under tight project timelines.

• Interpret controls drawings and wiring diagrams.

• Interpret controls bill of material (BOM).

• Frequently visit (locally) assigned data centers to supervise vendor’s work to ensure compliance with the design, submittal, and applicable local electrical codes (NEC etc.).

Requirements/Education/Experience/Skills:

• Must have Building Maintenance System knowledge

• High School diploma required.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or other related engineering degrees preferred.

• Experience with industrial controls in critical environments (data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, water etc.).

• Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, or customers.

• Excellent communication skills, teamwork, organizational and problem-solving skills.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Controls or Electrical project management, coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

• Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

• Five (5) years of Controls related experience preferred.

• Travel required.

Physical Requirements

      • MUST RESIDE IN PHOENIX AREA, VIRGINA, SAN ANTONIO AREA, NORTH TEXAS AREA, CHICAGO AREA

      • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.

      • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment

      • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments

      • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks

      • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly

      • Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.

      • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors

      • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses

      • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables

      • Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility

      • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow

      • Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection

      • Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
