Basic Function – Project Manager  

  • The Project Engineer is accountable for the successful development, execution and completion of multiple major projects achieving objectives to include deliverables, schedule, and coordination of equipment from multiple Cleaver Brooks facilities. Develop and manage the projects through the system from order entry through start-up to ensure their successful completion per required regulations and within established time and budget parameters. 
  • This position is responsible for direction of all activities beyond the typical processes that require completion on a standard project. This includes the primary point of contact between CB facilities, representatives, and customers, ensuring effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all participants. 

Essential Skills and Duties: 

  • Collaborate across internal business units and disciplines to ensure projects are cross-functionally supported.  
  • Create, manage, maintain, and deliver periodic (daily, weekly, monthly, annual) reports highlighting project milestones and status.  
  • Possess effective organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, which are critical for this position when working with the internal disciplines, the customer, authorized sales representatives and independent service contractors 
  • Responsible for thoroughly understanding and communicating project requirements and key milestones to appropriate team members and for managing those requirements accordingly. 
  • Establish clear ownership and time schedules for project tasks. Ensure that team members have the tools needed and provide timely feedback on project activity including project status, issues, and risks to management. Must be able to facilitate discussion and progress while proactively taking the necessary action to achieve the department goals. 
  • Track progress and review project tasks to meet deadlines and identify potential risks to maintaining the deadlines while proactively offering options for resolution. 
  • Possess an understanding of the technical requirements and be prepared to address issues if the need arises, promote solutions, and escalate in a timely manner when necessary. 
  • Work collaboratively with the product and project management teams to maintain thorough knowledge of product capabilities and applications. 

Qualifications:  

Education 

Bachelor’s degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Electrical Engineering. Project Management experience a plus. 

Professional Experience 

  • 3 years minimum of experience showing an exemplary record of managing multiple large capital equipment projects over several months to a successful completion. 
  • Preferred experience with capital equipment fabrication, construction and/or field installation and commissioning.  
  • Preferred experience with understanding technical information, drawings, and documentation.  

Other Requirements: 

  • Experience with project management software, ability to interpret engineering (mechanical / electrical) drawings, P&ID’s, technical specifications, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) 
  • An entrepreneurial aptitude with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative, performance-driven environment focused on stretch goals and tied to metrics.  
  • Mostly an office environment, but occasional site visits and work requiring infrequent physical effort. Understanding and enforcement of approved specifications, standards, processes, and documentation requirements to successfully support a Strategic Account. 
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures. 
  • Prefer candidates who are highly resourceful, possess an intellectual curiosity and desire to investigate issues while taking the initiative to explore resources to acquire the necessary data to assist in developing solutions.  
  • Must be able and willing to collaborate in a team/cooperative environment as well as exercise independent judgment and initiative. 
  • Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies and project ambiguities. Must possess a ‘can do attitude.’ Must be a self-starter that takes initiative and performs quality work with minimal supervision. 
  • A thorough understanding of the interaction with other departments including Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Service is necessary. 
  • Experience in the installation of standardized products as well as custom designed solutions preferred. 
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplined teams and collaborate with a knowledgeable and skilled work force. 
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and growing good rapport and sustainable relationships with external customers. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Strategic Operations.
