Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA seeking a Technical Project Manager with Appian experience. This is a full-time and onsite position in Washington DC.

Position Summary: The Project Manager will lead and oversee the development, operations, maintenance, and modernization of a large-scale Appian-based system. This role requires managing cross-functional teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring successful delivery of software projects using agile principles. The Project Manager must possess strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with a demonstrated track record overseeing Appian-related initiatives or similarly complex IT modernization efforts.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead interdisciplinary teams in planning, executing, and delivering Appian-based solutions, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
• Direct and organize complex software operations support, including security, system integrations, user acceptance testing, and post-production maintenance.
• Serve as the primary client interface, collaborating closely with senior-level government and business stakeholders, including federal stakeholders such as the Federal Project Manager and Product Owners, to define project deliverables, prioritize product backlogs, address evolving requirements, provide regular status updates, and manage expectations.
• Manage project plans, milestones, sprints, backlog, and reporting in Jira (or similar Agile tool), ensuring accurate sprint planning, scope management, and sprint velocity tracking.
• Oversee risk management, track project burn rate and costs, and plan proactively to address potential funding or schedule shortfalls.
• Ensure compliance with government agency project management, security, and Section 508 guidelines.
• Coordinate and approve staffing, including onboarding, training, and performance oversight of project personnel.

• At least 5 years of current project management experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) leading Appian or closely similar modernization/IT projects using Agile methods.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (4 years of additional relevant work experience may substitute for a degree).
• Experience managing teams on projects of comparable size and scope (200+ end users, multi-region environment, data migrations, modernization from legacy systems).
• Hands-on experience with Jira for sprint and backlog management.
• Demonstrated experience working with enterprise security, data migrations (especially to Oracle), and cloud-based integrations (e.g., AWS).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required).
• SCRUM Master certification (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of Appian design objects (preferred).
