A Brief Overview
The Project Lead Sonographer is responsible for independently performing any combination of the following: ultrasonic imaging, providing preliminary interpretation, assisting in transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography, and monitoring the patient's cardiopulmonary status for the duration of the examination. This position is also accountable for the preparation of preliminary interpretation reports, billing procedures, study transmittal and all expectations set forth for all sonographers in the cardiac echo lab.
In addition to these duties, the Project Lead Sonographer assists leadership in the Cardiac Echo Lab and serves as a vital resource for the four core domains within the Cardiac Echo Lab (Education, Quality Improvement, Advanced Modalities and CTRC Core Services). The Project Lead sonographer is responsible for organizing, planning, participating and implementing projects within the four domains of the lab in addition to supporting the daily operations of the lab.
The Project Lead Sonographer serves as the highest level position for sonographers with more than 4 years of continuous experience and has demonstrated excellence and experience in the core domains of the Cardiac Echo Lab. The Project Lead Sonographer must demonstrate advanced knowledge of pediatric echo with advanced experience in echo research, advanced modality acquisition, data collection, quality improvement and leadership in duties and projects.
What you will do

  • Perform accurate and quality echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations. Responds to emergent exams is a timely manner. Follows department workflows for reporting, billing and standard daily performance.
  • Ensures patient care is provided in clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment. Renders excellent patient care to patients and families. All hospital related interactions are courteous and confidential and in accordance with HIPPAA regulations. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients.
  • Assist management in implementing the goals of the core domains. This may include, coordinating meetings, data collection, research involvement, quality assurance activities and working groups. Assists management in obtaining institutional, divisional and departmental initiatives and goals.
  • Leader in the teaching of students, fellows and new technicians. Assists in the creation of policies, procedures and cost-control standards of the hospital as well as department specific policies and procedures.
  • May be asked to travel to other locations

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Technical Diploma Cardiovascular program Required
  • Associate's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least five (5) years of pediatric echocardiography experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - upon hire - Required or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - upon hire - Required
  • Pediatric Sonography (PS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - - Preferred or
  • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation of ultrasound systems
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology
  • Extensive knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography
  • Advanced proficiency in operation of ultrasound equipment
  • Advanced proficiency in operation of Syngo Dynamics
  • Proficiency in operation of third party software for data collection such as TomTech and QLab
  • Acquainted with data workflow within the Echo Lab
  • Ownership of leadership duties within the echo lab
  • Participation in national, international or original research studies
  • Participation in current core domain activities
  • Knowledgeable in cardiac echo lab software
  • Ability to travel to multiple work locations

SALARY RANGE:

$47.51 - $60.58 Hourly
