Project Lead Software Engineer

Amentum is looking for a Project Lead Software Engineer who can help reengineer legacy codes in MATLAB, C++ and some disparate tools to refactor the codebase to an upgraded and expanded functionality in C++. Primary work location will be in Dahlgren, VA with occasional telecommute or travel opportunities.  Depending on ability to deliver agile code portions on time, some increased telework opportunities for 1-2 times a week may be possible.

Project Lead Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:

• Understanding how to speed up older versions of software tools, enhance the newer version and refactor tools for speed and efficiency going forward.  

• Conducting internal testing on Agile process solutions to meet with customer on team to ensure more efficient ways to support engineering work. 

• Enabling design, code and maintenance of software support tools and models.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math or Physics) with a software background and three (3) + years of experience.

• Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.

• Understanding of software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, software development lifecycle, architecture, and documentation. Plans, performs, and lead software design, coding, and testing.

• Experience in an Agile software development environment and methodologies

• Program/project level experience of software design with experience performing detailed and complex software design and development meeting sub millisecond timing requirements.

• MATLAB familiarity, C++ Knowledge

• Ability to 1-2 times a year travel to Colorado, Nevada, and Utah.

• Ability to Commute: to Dahlgren NSF (1 hour south of Washington D.C.)
