Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement projects which improve the profitability, operability, reliability, safety, and environmental performance of the Hanging Rock Plant in accordance with the AmSty Business Plan and plant specific objectives.
- Develop and prioritize the plant’s 5-year capital plan.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, EH&S, and Quality to understand improvement opportunities across these functional areas.
- Manage the plant’s Value Creation program.
- Utilize plant, other AmSty resources, and third parties to ensure a detailed scope of work is developed for all projects and project alternatives and costs are thoroughly evaluated and agreed upon by key stakeholders.
- Prepare bid specifications, evaluate bids, and select engineering and construction contractors.
- Monitor/manage the design and execution of projects to ensure that they are engineered and built according to key project plans and company standards.
- Monitor/control the cost and timing of projects to keep expenditures and schedules within the limits authorized by management.
- Manage the start-up of projects and project closure activities in a safe and timely manner so that the project benefits can be fully realized.
- Adhere to the Management of Change process and monitor changes associated with project work to assure desired results are occurring
- Provide turnaround support, troubleshooting and engineering analysis as required.
- Serve as the plant representative on the AmSty Improvement Engineers’ network.
- Provide root cause investigation technical support as needed.
- Participate in plant audits, including Tech Center, ESRA, RC-PHA, OEMS, and FM Global.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3+ years of experience in project management and execution. Experience in a chemical processing or refinery environment a plus.
- Strong commitment to personal safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Broad generalized knowledge of chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering. Broad generalized knowledge of industry design codes, standards, and practices.
- Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles / regulations.
- Project management and administrative skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the development and execution of a project – including cost and schedule control.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of a structured project management or project development and execution process a plus.
- Excellent technical and problem solving skills to identify alternatives to challenges presented and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance or precedence.
