SynTerra is looking for a qualified Project Hydrogeologist/Scientist who can offer our clients their expertise. This position requires 2-4 years of experience with groundwater flow and transport modeling; environmental sampling, assessment, and remediation; or other relevant areas of expertise and experience in an applicable discipline. This position requires the ability to work independently on specific tasks and in collaboration with clients and other environmental professionals. The position requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment and to travel.

We provide assessment and remediation services on a wide variety of projects for a very diverse set of clients, primarily within the Southeastern United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Constructing numerical fate and transport models (MODFLOW/MT3DMS/MODPATH) to characterize and quantify groundwater flow patterns and mobile constituent transport processes.
  • Evaluating complex geologic and hydrogeologic systems using various tools and methodologies.
  • Assisting in the design and optimization of monitoring programs and engineered systems including landfills, drainage channels, stability features, and groundwater remedial systems.
  • Preparing and performing technical reviews of reports on groundwater modeling, groundwater monitoring, site characterization, risk assessment, permit application, and remediation.
  • Preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from coworkers, files, and other sources.
  • Using varied and advanced functions of “office suite automation” to include diagramming, e-mail, GIS, presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of outputs from the automation listed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Coordinating with leadership on business development, project management, and proposal writing.
  • Demonstrating willingness to travel throughout our market area for field work, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, hydrology, environmental science, engineering (environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering), or related field. Master’s degree or Doctorate degree greatly preferred.
  • Software proficiency (including but not limited to): GMS, GW Vistas, Surfer, Adobe Acrobat, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in flow and transport modeling
  • 40 hr. OSHA HAZWOPER trained a plus
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor settings in environments ranging from climate controlled office space to foul weather, heat, and rain.
  • May sit or stand for several hours at a time and climb inclines (terrains, ladders, etc.).
  • Required to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
