Project Engineer (Hillsboro, OR)
The Role:
The Project Engineer manages the creation, maintenance and documents that facilitate the implementation of new designs as a part of a product roadmap. Primarily interacting with vendors, engineering, and purchasing, the Project Engineer will drive new products and improvements to existing product lines.
What We Expect of You?
- Oversee the implementation of a project regarding scope, time, budget, and quality.
- Ensure that the appropriate disciplines are involved in the project and adhere to the project plan.
- Understand marketing requirements and creating a product that meets those expectations including creating or conveying requirements for 3D models, installation requirements, and integration with other product offerings.
- Coordinate project document collaterals within the Technical Construction File (Specs, Test reports, PSCL, certification documentation)
- Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects.
- Facilitate risk management reviews to minimize project risks.
- Investigate potential third parties/vendors and establish relationships to develop and qualify new products and/or materials. Work to develop existing third parties/vendors to meet new product requirements.
- Perform or oversee all engineering/technical calculations required.
- Create or convey requirement for BOMs and Routings.
Education/ Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical engineering or a related field , or equivalent work experience.
- Associates in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge areas/Skills
- Experience with interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Proficient in MS office software (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Experience in the design/customization of electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience in thermal systems or semiconductor equipment preferred.
- 3D modelling CAD system is desired, particularly Creo. CATIA V6 will be an added advantage. Experience in PLM/PDM system, 3DX is preferred.
- Material selection capabilities including understanding of global engineering standards (e.g. ISO, UL, IEC, etc.) would be an advantage.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
Other requirements
- Ability to effectively work with customers, vendors, engineers and operations personnel.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence without a direct management line.
- Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
