Are you looking to use your engineering capabilities, project management and collective skills in your next position? We could use your expertise on our team! As a Project Engineer II you will be responsible for managing project activities throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery. This role requires a strong technical background, project management skills, and the ability to interface with both internal teams and external customers to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

Systems Requirements Engineering

  • Lead the development, decomposition, and management of technical requirements, ensuring traceability from customer needs through design, implementation, integration, and verification.
  • Support the development of requirement baselines in Jama ensuring accuracy, completeness, and change control.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering and cross-functional teams to clarify requirement intent and maintain alignment throughout the systems engineering process.
  • Support verification approach to ensure testable requirement approach.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide authoritative technical guidance for requirements related decisions, ensuring work products remain aligned with the approved system baseline.
  • Review requirement changes and manage the Requirements Review Board.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for requirements development, maturation, and verification activities.

Customer & Stakeholder Interface

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for requirements discussions with external customers, subcontractors, and SAOC IPTs.

Status Reporting

  • Provide clear, comprehensive status updates regarding requirements maturity, compliance, risks, and verification progress.
  • Communicate changes in technical baseline or requirement implications proactively and concisely.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify and track requirement risks, gaps, and issues early in the lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads and project managers to ensure risks are managed consistently across IPTs.

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management.
  • Drive enhancements in requirement development processes, tools, and workflows.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in engineering roles with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. 
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and practice.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team.
  • Detailed understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 4-6 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
  • Experience with advanced project management tools and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers.
  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management.
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure.
  • Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
  • Hand and finger dexterity for computer use.
  • Capability to work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting project sites.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

This position requires current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
