035476 Project Engineer, Electrical (Open)

Job Description:

Engineering support, design and implementation of machine control systems to support projects for the EMEA manufacturing facilities.  Modify and improve control systems of existing and new equipment, components, parts to enhance or improve manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include design (concept, calculations, detail design), material and equipment specification and ordering, equipment debugging and testing and engineering support at implementation.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and develop machine and line control systems in response to new products or manufacturing process requirements. Improve or modify existing equipment or processes [control system or mechanical as appropriate].
  • Project study, calculations and concept design + detail design and documentation of machine and line control systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support (RCPS, trouble shooting, breakdown situations, training) for the Greif manufacturing facilities on machine and process control systems.
  • Prepare control system and equipment specifications and order equipment.
  • Provide project co-ordination and assist with installation and troubleshooting as required.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and layout with regard to productivity, flow, energy efficiency and safety. Prepare and implement proposals for improvements.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in accordance with OSG procedures and CE machine directive.
  • Monitor & drive vendors and customers to ensure progress, deliverables and sound practices are applied.
  • Monitor and maintain current engineering knowledge in developing technologies and practices (electrical system design, PLC programming, machine safety regulations, machine directives, standards such as EN60204, NEN1010 etc.)
  • Extensive travel throughout EMEA (approximately 50%)
  • Adherence to the Greif Safety, Health and Environmental Policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong PLC and HMI programming skills
  • Practical knowledge on pneumatics, hydraulics, servo systems, robotics

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Experience in design of machine control systems - hardware and software. Project scope ranging from single machine to production line integration.
  • General engineering knowledge (electrical + mechanical) and experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong computer skills, PLC and HMI programming, Eplan & Acad or equivalent and project-organization skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and how to apply this in own work area (e.g. SMED, RCPS).
  • Proactively work on improvements
  • Good knowledge of English language
  • Knowledge and practical application skills of machine directive - m/c safety regulations.
  • Documentation of design and reporting

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is €71,800.00 - €122,200.00 annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between80,000.00 to100,000.00 annually. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
