• Base Salary: $150,000 – $190,000, commensurate with experience
• Discretionary Bonus: 15 – 20%
• Target Total: $150,000 – $190,000 + Bonus + ESOP + 401(K) Match

About the Role

The Project Director leads a dedicated portfolio of complex commercial millwork and finish carpentry projects representing approximately half of Edge's annual budgeted revenue, together with the team responsible for delivering that work. Reporting to the President & CEO, this role owns portfolio-level strategy, financial performance, client relationships, staffing, risk management, and execution across the full project lifecycle.

Alongside a second Project Director, you'll co-lead Project Management as one department – sharing standards, staffing flexibility, and department-wide priorities while holding clear, final accountability for your own portfolio.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced construction professional who thrives on complexity, owns outcomes, and wants a real equity stake in the company they help grow.

What You'll Do

• Own the overall performance of a dedicated project portfolio representing roughly half of Edge's annual budgeted revenue
• Set portfolio-level strategy, priorities, staffing, workload balance, and escalation paths
• Own portfolio-level budgeting, cost projections, forecasting, and WIP reporting, with accountability for timely, reliable financials
• Review contracts, scope changes, change orders, and significant financial commitments; approve within the company's authority matrix and elevate items beyond it to the President & CEO
• Monitor schedules, milestones, financial performance, and closeout; intervene early when performance trends require it
• Ensure potential changes are identified promptly, notices are issued per contract requirements, and change-order exposure is actively managed

• Partner with the other Project Director to lead Project Management as one department, not two competing portfolios
• Establish shared standards for project setup, documentation, financial controls, and closeout across both portfolios
• Flex staffing across portfolios to reduce unnecessary overtime and uneven workloads
• Align on hiring, onboarding, performance expectations, and career development company-wide
• Present a single, consistent Project Management voice to Purchasing, Engineering, Field Supervision, and Accounting

• Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, and Field Supervision to keep procurement, engineering, and field delivery aligned with portfolio needs
• Coordinate labor and capacity planning with Field Operations to support project schedules and commitments
• Reinforce Edge's safety expectations and ensure project teams factor safety, access, logistics, and means-and-methods into planning
• Drive collaborative, can-do problem-solving across functions

• Build, lead, and mentor a multi-level team of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers
• Coach through clear direction, regular feedback, and meaningful growth opportunities
• Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning
• Contribute to company-wide process improvements and best practices

Requirements

What We’re Looking For 

• 10+ years of progressively responsible project-management experience in architectural millwork, commercial finish carpentry, specialty contracting, or commercial construction, including experience managing other project managers
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience
• Proven ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent, complex commercial projects and lead a multi-level project-management team
• Strong financial acumen – budgeting, forecasting, cost-to-complete projections, change management, and WIP management at a portfolio level
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, scopes of work, and contracts
• Strong communication, negotiation, client-management, and conflict-resolution skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and modern project-management, construction-management, or ERP systems

• Deep experience in architectural millwork, casework, commercial finish carpentry, or another technically complex specialty subcontracting environment
• Experience leading project teams across a regional footprint, coordinating engineering, purchasing/procurement, production, and field operations
• Established relationships with general contractors, owners, or architects in the Rocky Mountain region
• Experience improving project-management standards, systems, reporting, and team-development practices across a department

Work Environment

This is a primarily office-based leadership role, with regular travel to active projects across the Rocky Mountain region, including Wyoming, Montana, and mountain communities in Utah and Colorado. During peak project cycles, extended hours may be required – we work hard when projects demand it and are committed to balance in between.
