Last Energy is seeking a Project Development Manager to support the development of our fleet of PWR-20 Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) projects. This role owns project progress end-to-end across multiple markets simultaneously - from securing land and utility interconnection to engaging local stakeholders and regulators. The ideal candidate is a decisive operator who can build a roadmap from scratch, rally a cross-functional team around it, and push a project through ambiguity and hurdles toward a signed grid connection.
Areas of responsibility include:
Program/Project Management
- Develop roadmaps, budgets, and resourcing plans
- Accelerates projects through ruthless prioritization and critical path management, together with in-country teams
- Assigns and manages cross-functional team members (including product, engineering, licensing, and communications) in support of project progress
Land Acquisition
- Prepares, negotiates, and closes land agreements, together with in-country teams
- Manages land diligence efforts, including environmental, planning, and geotechnical
Grid Application
- Utilize transmission and distribution maps/data to identify opportunities for expedited grid connections
- Develop (with support from the engineering team), submit, and manage grid connection applications through the approvals process
Stakeholder Engagement/Permitting
- Travel internationally and present projects to municipalities and local stakeholder groups
- Research, draft, submit, and manage planning and non-nuclear permitting documentation to regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics/Finance, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or other related discipline
- 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in the fields of energy or sustainability
- Demonstrated Project Development and Project Management skills
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar)
- Working knowledge of the energy transition landscape
- Willing to travel as needed (10-30%)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to track many moving pieces across multiple projects simultaneously without dropping the ball
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Eager to learn the specifics of nuclear project development, regulatory processes, and energy infrastructure; prior knowledge is a plus but not required
- Strong self-starter with the ability to quickly adapt strategy in a fast-paced environment
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics/Finance, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related discipline
- 4 -10 years of professional experience in energy or sustainability
- Demonstrated Project Development and Project Management skills
- High Emotional Intelligence with international and cross-cultural experience preferred
- Working knowledge of the energy transition landscape
