Sublime is advancing a breakthrough, clean, efficient, low-waste process for manufacturing cement, the essential ingredient in the most-consumed human-made material on Earth: concrete. Replacing 200-year-old manufacturing methods that are reliant on kilns running hotter than lava, our near-ambient-temperature, electrochemical technology manufactures industry-accepted cement and critical minerals. We’re partnering with leading general contractors, concrete producers, developers, and technology hyperscalers to deploy our clean, durable, beautiful Sublime Cement® in infrastructure that is defining the future of clean construction. Backed by some of the world’s largest cement producers, leading private investors, and the U.S. Department of Energy, we are assembling a talented, collaborative team that is "amped about cement" (pun intended) and committed to operating on the frontiers of material science, manufacturing, industry, construction, and commercial partnerships, to advance cement innovation that will endure for the next millennium.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will be joining our project development team and contributing to the groundwork behind a global site selection process. This will entail working in conjunction with large corporates, state/federal agencies, and other key players, both internally and externally. Candidates will perform market research, draft project timelines, analyze project risks, support financial modeling, and work to build relationships that unlock sites to deploy Sublime Systems’ clean carbon cement technology.
This is a full- time, 40 hours per, week in person position located in Somerville, MA.
Scope of Work:
- Clean Carbon Cement Market / Demand Research
- Build pricing dataset for low-carbon materials in various geographies of interest
- Review governmental low-carbon materials procurement standards to build Sublime’s view on long-term impact/marketplace
- Interconnection Access + Cost
- Outline pathways through various utilities to achieve interconnection
- Engage utilities and consultants to uncover key information around timeline, cost, and risk
- Permitting Timeline + Risk Analysis
- Identify necessary permits for the construction of a commercial-scale Sublime facility
- Develop understanding of application review timing, key risks, and necessary spend on a site-by-site basis
- Securing Feedstock
- Supporting negotiation of feedstock procurement term sheets / LOIs with potential suppliers
- Identifying logistics partners and pricing for commercial volumes of product/feedstock
Qualifications/Qualities:
- Pursuing or recently completed MBA / graduate-level degree preferred
- Background encompassing complex project workin renewables, cement/chemicals, or other project/project development settings a strong plus.

Sublime was started in 2020, as a spin-out of Yet-Ming Chiang's lab at MIT (Form Energy, A123, American Superconductor, 24M, Desktop Metals).
