Coast (“Coast” or the “Company”) is a rapidly growing commercial and industrial (“C&I”) solar energy firm. By offering innovative systems which provide dependable solar energy to commercial businesses, Coast is disrupting the way commercial building owners purchase electricity.

Through the backing of its financial sponsor, Crosstimbers Capital Group, Coast expects to finance, develop, own, and operate $300+ million of commercial solar projects across the United States over the next several years. Coast owns the solar systems installed on the roofs of commercial buildings and sells solar electricity to building owners at a rate that is typically less than their current electricity provider. We are looking for talented, results-oriented, self-starters who will consistently deliver exceptional results to our customers and investors in pursuit of becoming the leading C&I solar provider in the United States.

We believe people should feel appreciated and part of a broader—mission-based organization—where their experience and talents are nurtured, and their full potential is realized. Coast seeks to cultivate a culture that enables talented individuals to thrive by autonomously utilizing their unique abilities and extraordinary work ethic within a highly collaborative environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and teamwork. We view it as one of our greatest responsibilities to enable, lead, and help individuals grow into the best versions of themselves. Our team shares a common vision of becoming the best version of ourselves and building the best company we can create, while transitioning our country to clean, renewable energy.

Coast has identified the need for a Project Developer to lead the company's origination and development of commercial solar projects by commercial real estate owner and offtaker relationships to organically generate commercial solar and battery storage opportunities. This individual will work with multiple partners including property owners, utilities, EPC’s, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders while also overseeing multiple projects throughout the development life-cycle to Notice to Proceed (“NTP”). Responsibilities include:

Business Development

  • Establish Coast’s commercial real estate presence across key markets, as well as key and emerging markets in the Western US, to source solar projects
  • Strategize outreach and foster relationships with property owners and real estate professionals
  • Develop marketing materials and define Coast’s value proposition and solar benefits for property owners
  • Initiate, deploy and track a sales strategy for the region

Project Origination & Development

  • Identify and secure viable solar development sites that align with Coast’s origination strategy
  • Qualify projects independently that fit Coast’s suite of energy solutions, including the viability of the project, need of the customer, project size, production, estimated savings, contract terms, etc.
  • Manage the solar development strategy and process from origination through signed agreements and NTP
  • Assist in financial underwriting and credit underwriting for project diligence
  • Negotiate commercial terms and agreements with CRE owners and local authorities to mutually benefit the customer and Coast, including letters of intent, PPA’s, EPC Agreements, site control, etc.
  • Assist with and participate in Coast’s strategy and development operations to reach NTP for prospective projects, including underwriting and due diligence of the projects and off-takers
  • Manage and coordinate the early-stage development of multiple projects and work with the development operations team to transition NTP projects for construction management

Project Reporting

  • Serve as point of contact with CRE owners and brokers to provide frequent updates on projects statuses
  • Assist with the preparation of investment presentations and reports to internal stakeholders

Industry Presence

  • Attend and speak at industry events to market Coast and the Company’s suite of energy solution
  • Acquire market intelligence and drive Coast’s thought leadership in the industry
  • Travel as needed to accelerate project pipeline growth

  • An experienced solar development professional with a proven track record of developing a solar/storage pipeline from initial lead through NTP
  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of development stages and with PPA Financings across multiple projects
  • Background in business development in the C&I solar space and a deep knowledge of the incentive programs in the key C&I markets
  • Relationship-driven with a strong property owner network, prospecting acumen, and a preference for building trust and working collaboratively
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills and an affinity for negotiation and closing deals
  • A trustworthy, empathetic, and servant-oriented leader
  • An innovative and organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly
