This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.

The Project Cost Controls primary responsibility is to be a resource to the support team and leader of daily operations within the department. This role will support the project team regarding contract management, compliance, payments, reports and any other duties related to the project. Train and review the work of lower-level employees while also performing the same work.  Acts as liaison between job sites and corporate office.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Supports processing of subcontractor and supplier contracts and change orders via Textura online payment program and other programs.
  • Reviews and updates procurement purchase orders for taxability based on state guidelines. 
  • Works with project sites and/or other departments and influences day-to-day practices and procedures.
  • Reviews documentation, performs testing, and addresses issues to ensure SOX compliance.
  • Collaborates with vendors, job site personnel, and corporate office colleagues to obtain purchase orders and other information needed to resolve internal and external invoice and payment issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and reconciles monthly statements. Requests missing invoices and processes to ensure payments are made on time.
  • Reviews vendor invoices to verify receipts are in the system to ensure accuracy of costs to projects. 
  • Trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower-level employees and may be relied upon to demonstrate ability to resolve or provide guidance on issues escalated.
  • Works directly with the Lien waiver team to prepare remittance and capture Lien waivers for incorporated material and subcontracts.
  • Prepares, audits and manages vendor payment groups.  Audits selections and work with Accounts Payable to resolve integrity issues.
  • Provides support for emergency check requests required by the field and Avon departments to ensure they are compliant and issued timely.
  • Reviews and approves new project setup submissions.
  • Reviews project costs to determine accuracy and compare to forecast.  Collaborate with Supply Chain and Project Teams to capture missing costs.
  • Monitors sales and use taxes related to materials procured for projects.  Complete sales tax exemptions and uses tax accruals where applicable.
  • Supports month-end AP close processes relative to accurate accruals.
  • Upholds corporate integrity by maintaining confidentiality of corporate financial information.
  • Communicates information that requires some explanation and/or interpretation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor or Associate’s degree in accounting or related degree, or equivalent combinations of education and work experience. 
  • 5 or more years of experience with accounting, accounts payable, taxes, or other related experience required. Construction experience a plus. 
  • Requires advanced knowledge of operations procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education.
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and active listening skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Analytically minded with strong mathematical and financial skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word) and data entry (10-key).
  • Demonstrated ability to display a high level of professionalism when dealing with confidential information

$26.41 - $36.32 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
