Project Coordinator

Job Overview:

The Project Coordinator provides essential administrative, data stewardship, and coordination support to the manufacturing product engineering team. This role focuses on managing engineering and purchased‑part data within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, tracking engineering deliverables and associated documentation, identifying and managing duplicate or obsolete parts, and facilitating clear communication across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and supply chain stakeholders.

This position plays a key role in maintaining engineering data integrity, reducing waste caused by duplicate or outdated components, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with departmental and organizational objectives (Kaizen and Hoshin management).

Job Functions:

  • PLM Data Management & Part Lifecycle Control
    • Create, maintain, and update part and document records within the PLM system, including metadata, classifications, lifecycle state, and revision history.
    • Ensure PLM data complies with internal standards for naming, numbering, document association, and lifecycle usage.
    • Support engineering change activity by entering and maintaining data associated with ECOs, revisions, and lifecycle transitions.
  • Duplicate Part Identification & Management
    • Actively identify potential duplicate or functionally equivalent parts during new part setup and change activity.
    • Coordinate with engineers to evaluate existing parts as reuse candidates before new part creation.
    • Maintain visibility of approved alternates or preferred components within PLM.
    • Support consolidation efforts by helping retire or restrict duplicate parts where appropriate.
    • Track and document duplicate‑part findings and resolutions to support long‑term reduction of part sprawl.
    • Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and supply chain to ensure obsolete components are appropriately flagged and addressed.
  • Engineering Deliverables & Document Tracking
    • Track engineering deliverables across projects.  Including but not limited document submission, design release, documentation creation, specification approval.
    • Ensure deliverables are properly named, version‑controlled and stored
    • Proactively identify missing or outdated deliverables that could delay releases or create downstream risk.
  • Engineering Team Support
    • Provide administrative and coordination support that allows engineers to focus on design and technical problem‑solving.
    • Maintain organized records of engineering releases, approvals, and supporting documentation.
    • Track open action items related to data entry, document completion, duplicate evaluation, or obsolescence follow‑up.
    • Support preparation for design reviews, release gates, audits, or internal assessments.
  • Intradepartmental & Cross‑Functional Communication
    • Serve as a communication bridge between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and supply chain.
    • Clearly communicate part status, document readiness, duplicates, and obsolescence concerns.
    • Help ensure engineering intent is accurately represented in PLM data used by downstream teams.
    • Promote consistent understanding of lifecycle status, part usability, and documentation completeness.
  • Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) & Strategy Alignment (Hoshin)
    • Participate in Kaizen activities by identifying recurring data, documentation, or workflow inefficiencies.
    • Assist engineering leadership in tracking metrics related to data quality, reuse, and release readiness.
    • Support Hoshin management objectives by aligning daily administrative work with department goals such as:
    • Help maintain standard work, checklists, and visual controls related to PLM and engineering deliverables.
