Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support various infrastructure/civil engineering projects. As part of our Corporate Finance team and reporting to the Director of Finance, the Project Accountant oversees all aspects of Project Accounting for each project assigned and interfaces closely with Project Managers to maintain the financials for each project.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up and maintains projects in accounting system according to contract terms.

  • Prepares monthly billings to client based on contract, posts billings timely and accurately.

  • Reviews project contracts for required billing, lien waiver and other accounting related responsibilities.

  • Supports Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to project accounting and billing.

  • Reviews and approves travel expenses related to assigned projects.

  • Participates in project review meetings.

  • Reviews and enters all project related Subconsultant invoices to ensure costs are posted timely and accurately.

  • Maintain accurate and auditable accounting files.

  • Monitors accounts receivable status and assists with collection if necessary.

  • Understands how projects earn revenue in the accounting system and assists the Regional Finance Manager monthly in reporting and analyzing project earnings.

  • Ensures compliance with accounting principles, company policies and regulatory requirements related to project accounting and revenue recognition.

  • Supports internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.

  • Assists Project Managers with other job cost related tasks.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of 2+ years project cost accounting.

  • Experience in Architecture/Engineering consulting industry highly desired.

  • Proven experience managing medium to large scale projects with changing scope, timelines, and consultants.

  • Deltek Vision software knowledge is a plus.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Requires excellent 360-degree communication skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.

  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
