Role:
Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, security, and daily support of the GCCC servers and software services. The Programmer and Systems Administrator will help end-users and other I.T. staffers by creating scripts to automate tasks such as user on-boarding/off-boarding, account provisioning, and API integrations on Windows and Linux systems. The Programmer and Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers (Windows/Linux). The Programmer and Systems Administrator will also oversee projects as assigned by the Executive Information Officer.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Provide end-user support via powershell, bash, and other scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks.
- Provide end to end development support for multiple hosted applications, including API integration development, database management, and server maintenance.
- Manage and Support Windows based services such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory user and group policies.
- Maintain Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server databases as needed to provide support for the Ellucian Portal, Ellucian Colleague and GCCC Website.
- Maintain and extend the current use of Windows Active Directory services and OneLogin SSO services for user provisioning and 2-Factor Authentication.
- Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
- Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by end users.
- Install, upgrade, and maintain computer components and software and manage physical and virtual servers.
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without impacting end users during business hours.
- Assist IT staff with the resolution of IT help desk tickets as needed or when asked.
- Lead special projects assigned from the Executive Information Officer that could consist of cloud, network, security and Ellucian Colleague design and implementation strategies.

- To maintain a general knowledge of applicable copyright laws and regulations.
- Create and maintain an effective relationship with GCCC Students, Faculty, and Staff in order to provide quality service and support for everyone.
- To work with end-users when problem situations arise and complete all jobs in a timely manner.
- To assist the interaction between end users and Second Level Support team.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three or more years of related and progressively more responsible system administration including experience overseeing moderately, complex and/or critical information technology projects, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
Education: Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field is preferred. CCNA, CCNP, A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications are a plus.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills: Six months to two years of experience in systems administration and/or programming.
Physical Requirements: The position generally requires light work with occasional lifting of 30 pounds or more, carrying equipment, varying amounts of sitting, climbing, kneeling, standing and walking. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus is necessary.
Skills Required
- Three or more years of related, progressively responsible systems administration experience, including oversight of moderately complex or critical IT projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six months to two years of systems administration and/or programming experience.
- Associate's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- CCNA certification.
- CCNP certification.
- A+ certification.
- Network+ certification.
- Security+ certification.
