Position Summary:

This is a full-time position that can be located in Columbia, SC or Greenville, SC in which the successful applicant will regularly engage with a diverse array of public and private undergraduate institutions and the K-12 sector to ensure smooth program operations, timely communication, and successful delivery of program objectives A successful Program Manager will be able to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, tolerate frequent interruption, focus on detailed work and work within strict deadlines. Some travel is required within South Carolina and related to participation in national EPSCoR Meetings.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include coordinating administrative and programmatic activities for the NSF EPSCoR E-CORE RII award: South Carolina Collaborative Academic Pathways in STEM (SC-CAPS) award, including:

  • Supporting the Principal Investigator in planning and implementing SC CAPS activities, including meetings, workshops, conferences, and other convenings; coordinating event logistics, strategic timelines, and collaboration across project leadership.
  • Facilitating communication among the SC CAP Principal Investigator, project leadership team, and participating South Carolina colleges and universities, while supporting SC CAPS-wide outreach through listservs, newsletters, announcements, social media, and related communications (including occasional travel to partner institutions).
  • Managing SC CAPS funding program operations, including solicitation development, proposal processing, and peer review activities for the Faculty Research Development Academy, Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences, and the Equipment Development Program.
  • Coordinating faculty training programs, including managing the application, review, and selection processes.
  • Planning and coordinating major SC CAPS events, including the annual external advisory board meetings, SC-CAPS meetings, and assisting with the planning and execution of the annual SC EPSCoR State conference.
  • Maintaining and managing databases of participants and institutions to track engagement, participation, and program outcomes.
  • Coordinating annual reporting requirements, including collecting and compiling data from participating individuals and institutions and entering required information into NSF reporting systems.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. (minimum) with 5+ years of experience in program coordination.
  • Experience with federal grant programs and/or private foundations
  • Proficiency working with a diverse range of stakeholders (K-12, college/university) is desired. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Moderate travel within the state of South Carolina

Skills Required

  • B.S./B.A. degree (minimum) with 5+ years of program coordination experience
  • Experience with federal grant programs and/or private foundations

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tolerate frequent interruption, focus on detailed work, and meet strict deadlines

  • Willingness/ability to travel moderately within South Carolina (and to national EPSCoR meetings as needed)
