Within the AMD Server Business Unit, Strategic Market Development (SMD) is a business-critical team with a mandate to enable global market leadership and growth for AMD EPYC processors. The SMD team is responsible for managing end-customer adoption of AMD EPYC processors and works closely with AMD Sales, Engineering and Product teams, as well as lead customers and 3rd party partners (OEMs, Cloud Providers, and ISVs). The SMD team regularly interfaces and reports out to AMD senior management.

Reporting to the SMD CVP, the Program Manager and Chief of Staff (PM & COS) is a key position enabling the team's scalability and success. Responsibilities will include owning goal tracking across the entire SMD team, overseeing the multi-million-dollar SMD market development budget, representing the CVP of SMD in certain forums, managing staff meetings, and creating reports and presentations for senior management on a regular and ad hoc basis.

This role will have direct reports including the budget manager, who manages the team's procurement and invoicing processes, interfacing with the Finance and Marketing Operations teams and ensuring on-time project funding.

The SMD PM & COS will be a business and logistics leader who will play a direct role in the success of the team and our ability to meet goals and expectations. You will be the CVP's right-hand-person, engaging daily with SMD segment business owners and aligning all aspects of operational execution to meet team KPIs. A successful PM & COS will save the SMD segment leads valuable time, enabling them to focus on the business segments they own. The PM & COS's approach to process implementation, as well as issue identification and resolution, will support continuous improvement and contribute significantly to the team's strategic objectives. This role requires outstanding problem-solving skills, confident decision-making and communication, and the ability to liaise effectively with leaders across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will have a talent for securing information from busy stakeholders in a timely manner and will possess strong business acumen with an emphasis on strategic communication and relationship-building to secure desired results.

  • Facilitate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on progress to goals - this includes securing the necessary inputs from SMD team leaders, consolidating for CVP review, working with the CVP to revise, and preparing the final deck for senior management.
  • Oversee budget management in collaboration with AMD Finance and Marketing Ops. Requires collaboration with the team budget manager who will report to you, as well as proactive coordination with business segment leaders to ensure budget aligns with quarterly goals, organizing meetings as needed to keep leaders informed and on track.
  • Oversee Staff Meetings - includes ensuring team participation and readiness of required content, documenting key notes and actions from meetings, and ensuring follow-up.
  • Work with CVP on reports and presentations for senior management, on a foreseen and unforeseen basis.
  • Establish and oversee efficient operational processes. Train team members to internalize and follow key processes successfully. Analyze performance, identify process improvement opportunities and barriers, define required actions, work with global teams to gain buy-in, and implement positive change.
  • Organize and manage our team intranet structure and content including core business decks, meeting presentations, functional org charts, best practices tips and FAQs.
  • Establish and curate the resources and templates needed to support business processes including evaluation, development and maintenance of digital tools and platforms to streamline operations as a whole.
  • Anticipate upcoming needs and roadblocks and make a case to management for proposed solutions. Roll up your sleeves when needed to troubleshoot and drive team to optimal outcomes.

  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Capable of managing multiple projects with changing requirements
  • Outstanding communication skills -- clear, concise and effective communicator with the ability to discuss strategic topics and issues in a straightforward and actionable manner. Comfortable communicating with stakeholders across the globe in implementing change and reporting on progress and outcomes. Confident enough to communicate firmly and directly when necessary.
  • Proven ability to support business leaders in a high-growth environment
  • Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying and analyzing recurring operational and strategic challenges, as well as crafting and successfully implementing solutions
  • Effective in working with both technical and business staff to plan and implement projects, including customer-facing activities.
  • Has flexible, can-do attitude and a reliable ability to get things done.
