CAMBA administers services at 9 Cornerstone Community Centers across Brooklyn. All Cornerstone programs are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings, youth leadership and social services to the neighborhood’s students, their families, and other residents. Activities and services are available after school, evenings and on weekends. 

Position: Program Director

Reports To: Senior Program Manager

What Does a/the Program Director Do: 

  • Provide overall leadership, supervision, and day-to-day management of the Cornerstone program in accordance with DYCD and CAMBA expectations.  
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all program components, including youth, adult, senior, and community programming.  
  • Ensure the program meets contractual goals, performance targets, enrollment benchmarks, attendance expectations, and reporting deadlines.  
  • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and support Assistant Directors, Program Coordinators, Group Leaders, administrative staff, and other program staff.  
  • Ensure the program operates in compliance with DYCD regulations, School-Age Child Care (SAC) licensing requirements, CAMBA policies, and all safety protocols.  
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with NYCHA, resident associations, schools, community partners, elected officials, and local stakeholders.  
  • Oversee staff scheduling, site coverage, timekeeping approvals, and daily program operations, including evenings and weekends.  
  • Manage incident response, crisis management, de-escalation, and communication with leadership regarding significant program or facility issues.  
  • Oversee participant recruitment, retention, outreach, and community engagement efforts to ensure strong program participation.  
  • Monitor program quality through observations, staff meetings, participant feedback, and continuous improvement practices.  
  • Ensure accurate completion of program documentation, data entry, attendance tracking, incident reports, and monthly/quarterly reports.  
  • Collaborate with CAMBA leadership and fiscal staff to monitor budgets, purchasing, inventory, and program expenditures.  
  • Coordinate special events, trips, workshops, performances, showcases, and community initiatives.  
  • Support the development of a welcoming, inclusive, safe, and engaging environment for participants, families, staff, and community members.  
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, community events, and DYCD/CAMBA professional development activities.  
  • Evening and weekend hours required. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

What are the Qualifications for the Position: 

Education, Licenses and/or Certifications Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 18 credits completed in education/a related field; OR a certificate in Youth Studies and two years of applicable experience  
  • Or the following minimum requirements of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS): 
  • Associate’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or a related field AND two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity 
  • New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential AND two years direct experience working with children 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.  
  • School Age Child Care Credential AND two years direct experience working with children 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. 
  • Two years of college with 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or a related field AND two years direct experience working with children 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. 

Minimum Experiences and Skills Required:  

  • Education and experience listed above  
  • Two years of supervisory/management experience  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual in English and any other language 

Compensation: -$64,500 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)
