Job Description

The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and community-driven professional to lead the creation and delivery of engaging programs across community centers. This is a unique opportunity to shape meaningful experiences for youth, families and residents by developing high-quality activities, after school programs, and summer camps that make a real impact.

As a Coordinator, the desired applicant will be the creative architect behind community center programming by working with staff to design engaging activities and supporting them in execution and ensuring every participant has a safe and memorable experience. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Operations, Compliance & Administration

  • Oversee and ensure full compliance with childcare licensing regulations

  • Utilize CRM system for accurate scheduling and program usage.

  • Maintain organized records and coordinate communication with licensing and regulatory agencies

  • Prepare, analyze and submit key administrative documents including inventories, invoices, attendance records, performance evaluations, purchase orders, budgets, revenue reports and annual summaries.

  • Administer contracts, partnership agreements and vendor relationships to support program services

  • Ability to review, analyze, and update existing policies, develop new procedures and ensure compliance, efficiency and alignment with organizational goals

  • Ability to manage multiple programs, staff teams, deadlines, and regulatory requirements

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support programming

 

Program Creation & Community Engagement

  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of creative, inclusive and impactful community center programs, after school activities and summer camps

  • Collaborate closely with staff to plan, organize and execute activities that meet the community needs and elevate participant experiences.

  • Build strong partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders to enhance programming

  • Provide visionary leadership to staff

  • Deliver presentations to elected officials, community groups and partner organizations to promote programs and highlight department initiatives.

  • Respond professionally to inquiries, concerns and feedback from participants and the public.

  • Represent the department at community events, professional networking events and deliver presentations that communicate program offerings, successes and goals Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and mentor staff and volunteers to ensure program execution

  • Guide team members in curriculum development, activity planning, and program scheduling.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing work environment across community center teams

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Childcare & Family Studies or other work-related fields and two years of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and compliance standards. Proven ability to work both independently and within a team structure in a fast-paced environment. Two to Five years of related management experience preferred. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional preferred Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. 

Salary Range:

$27.54.-$36.83/hr.
