The Part-Time Program Assistant supports the Center for Career & Professional Development in advancing student participation in internships, experiential learning, and career readiness opportunities. This position works closely with the Work-Based Learning Specialist to provide direct support to students, coordinate program activities, and ensure efficient program operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact for students seeking assistance with internships and experiential learning opportunities.

  • Assist with coordinating, promoting, and tracking internship and experiential learning programs.

  • Provide advisement and ongoing support to 10-20 students throughout their internship to help ensure successful participation and skill development.

  • Maintain and update databases, student participation records, and employer contact information.

  • Support the planning and execution of workshops, matching fairs, employer information sessions, and related events.

  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and employers regarding experiential learning opportunities.

  • Prepare communications, promotional materials, and reports to support program outreach and assessment.

  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, data entry, and correspondence.

  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, and external partners to enhance student access to work-based learning opportunities.

  • Provide overall support to the Center for Career and Professional Development office.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Prior experience in higher education, career services, workforce development, or administrative support is strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database systems; experience with career services platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.

  • Commitment to supporting a diverse community of students and employers.

Pay Range:

$20.00 an hour

About the Research Foundation
The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is a nonprofit educational corporation founded in 1963 to provide post-award fiscal and administrative support for CUNY’s research and sponsored programs. RFCUNY’s services allow CUNY researchers, faculty, and staff to focus on their intellectual curiosity and scientific discoveries, on projects and programs that serve our local and global communities, proposing concrete solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.
RFCUNY serves as a fiscal agent and works closely with all the CUNY campus Grants Offices to perform the core functions of post-award financial management for CUNY research projects and sponsored programs. These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
