JOB SUMMARY:

Manage and develop production team members while coordinating activities of a non-woven production operation ensuring a quality product, maintaining a safe environment, and achieving desired key performance measurements. Builds team environment, engages team members, and models Glatfelter leadership principles. 

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading activities of daily operations of a non-woven production operation.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe manner, complies with all safety rules and ensures safety and environmental compliance among team members.
  • Lead daily meetings with team, reviewing safety, equipment issues, production schedules, staffing deployment and continuous improvement plans.
  • Accountable for monitoring all processes and support personnel to ensure the completion of production goals.
  • Ensures proper documentation of all process parameters is set within range, and deviations are completed for all out-of-control limits.
  • Follows production schedule and coordinates activities with materials, maintenance, quality, and production; and escalates issues preventing our ability to attain schedule and plan.
  • Ensure all paperwork, documentation, records, and procedures for production activities are completed in a timely, accurate and proper manner.
  • Treats team members with respect; balancing accountable to expectations with constructive feedback and development.
  • Accountable for maintaining housekeeping expectations. Conduct housekeeping audits and report findings.
  • Coordinates training of team members on equipment, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Accountable for achieving Key Performance Measures; Safety, Quality, Uptime and Yield.
  • Leads and participates in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement teams.
  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Audit and responds to issues on subjects such as sexual harassment, environmental, safety, discipline, EEO, etc. by using prescribed guidelines to meet governmental requirements and maintain good working relations and conditions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. Manage and directly supervise non-exempt, 12-hour rotating shift production team members.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these team members, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; determining and staffing overtime requirements.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in technical field/discipline preferred.
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing and/or operational experience; Non-woven/Sheet/Web manufacturing or conversion preferred.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use judgement, gather information and facts, to make logical and compliant decisions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent Manufacturing Operations work order software preferred.
  • Experience with automated time and attendance system preferred. Strong self-starting mind-set and managerial abilities.
  • Excellent supervisory and team leadership skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and escalation identification skills.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Course desired

Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time; dust; heat; humidity, odors.  

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
