OverviewPosition Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing manufacturing or business processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance production workflows, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and improve manufacturing or operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistency in production.
- Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
- Work with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, R&D) to troubleshoot process issues.
- Optimize workflow layouts, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and automation technologies to improve productivity.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process failures and develop corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Work closely with the safety team to ensure compliance.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing and refining production processes.
- Train operators and production staff on new or updated processes.
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or related experience).
- Experience: 2-5+ years in process engineering, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in process modeling and simulation tools (AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning.
- Strong understanding of Lean, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Primarily works in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
- May require hands-on work on the production floor and occasional office tasks.
- Requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.
Preferred
- Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Certifications: Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), Lean Manufacturing, PMP.
- Industry Experience: Automotive, aerospace, electronics, contract manufacturing, or heavy manufacturing.
- Experience with process validation, statistical process control (SPC), and DOE (Design of Experiments).
