Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

Ensures that assigned plant operations demonstrate world-class performance. Provides strategic leadership, management, and technical expertise to the organization. Plans, develops, directs, implements, and maintains strategies and objectives. Manages financial aspects of operations and understands the effect on financial performance. Develops, reviews, and maintains budgets and expenses for department. Monitors and controls costs and promotes cost savings. Maintains appropriate level of staff support necessary to meet business goals and objectives. Performs project work and other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Magna Mirrors – South Carolina operations require management and resolution of critical issues, their solution of which requires experienced senior management. Decisions and actions made are likely to have long-ranging effect on organizational effectiveness and success. Scope of responsibilities is large, often including managing subordinate managers to accomplish overall organization objectives.

  • Ensures that assigned plant operations demonstrate world-class performance Provides strategic leadership, management, and technical expertise to the organization and the operations team.
  • Plans, develops, directs, implements, and maintains plant strategies and objectives. Develops moderate to long-term goals and translates them into short-term plans in support of Magna Mirrors – South Carolina and objectives. Provides leadership to managers for strategy implementation.
  • Manages financial aspects of operations and understands the effect on financial performance.
    Develops, reviews, and maintains budgets and expenses for materials, equipment, travel, human capital, etc., ensuring conformity to plan. Monitors and controls costs and promotes cost savings in support of goals and value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) efforts. Researches and recommends new processes, systems, policies, and procedures to pursue in the future.
  • Develops and manages cross-functional operations leadership teams to meet business objectives. Monitors productivity of groups and individuals, recommends changes where desirable. Provides leadership and support to staff and assists in employees' skill development and develops team-based organization focused on goals and objectives.
  • Performs project work and other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Prepares and distributes appropriate communication as necessary. Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Directs, promotes and reviews programs relating to safety, quality and productivity in the division and recommends changes where desirable. Performs regular workplace inspections and monitors compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Investigates and makes decisions regarding unsettled grievances with the support of Human Resources for issues being addressed via the Open Door Process.
  • Immediately notify EHS of any accidents or incidents. Support EHS by holding accountable managers/supervisors to complete the incident reports at the time of the incident. Hold managers/supervisors accountable to ensure incident reports are completed thoroughly by the employee, supervisor and manager. Hold accountable managers and supervisors to submit incident reports within 24 hours to EHS.
  • Required to lead achievement of the lost time incident rate and overall incident rate of the division.
  • Ensure unsafe acts or conditions are being corrected by managers and supervisors which may include progressive discipline, notifying EHS properly, completing incident reports, and placing work orders.
  • Ensure managers and supervisors are training new employees properly in their position including safety
  • Coach and counsel supervisors with performance concerns and/or commend excellent performance which includes safety, quality, leadership skills, and performance metrics. Ensure managers and supervisors are conducting performance reviews with employees to include safety concerns and acclamations.
  • Ensure daily shift meetings are being conducted which includes safety talks.
  • Understand your overall responsibility to ensure the health and safety for the entire Magna Mirrors - Greer facility. Support and direct EHS to be proactive regarding health and safety initiatives. Ensure employees are given written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee. Ensure employees are advised of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee of which the supervisor is aware. Understand your overall responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA Inspectors. Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example. Ensure that employees wear the appropriate protective devices. Know the safety rules at Magna Mirrors – South Carolina.
  • Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response. Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field including eight years manufacturing leadership experience; or equivalent. Possess high degree of knowledge in manufacturing, operations, process design, systems and quality.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead and manage operations toward long-term departmental and organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated employee relationship and management skills to support, develop, and lead a cohesive, world-class operations team.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills to work with internal and external contacts at all levels within the organization, represent the company in a professional manner, and to sell concepts to customers and strategies to external and internal management. Must have a compelling commitment to the values underlying Magna management systems.
  • Demonstrated project and program management skills and proven financial capabilities to maintain quality, cost, and timing of programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. As needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain proper vision requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.
  • Must have working knowledge of English
