Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward-thinking processor of value added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. CMA is looking for an individual with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, varied environment and is experienced in managing meat production operations. This role is responsible for the production of all end products whether fresh or frozen from processing through packaging and shipment including management, coordination and supervision of all production employees. Success in this role requires a motivating, collaborative approach to team leadership and a commitment to achieving shared goals.

What You Get To Do

  • Maintain a consistent presence on the plant floor to monitor daily operations.
  • Supervise hourly employees including temporary employees; provide feedback, planning, direction and guidance regarding work performed.
  • Train, coach, incent and discipline (up to and including the termination) of direct reports.
  • Adhere to the daily production schedule and unforeseen changes; ensure efficient scheduling of employees, materials, and supplies for timely start-ups, continuous operations, to meet production and delivery targets; manage and control overtime hours.
  • Oversee all work activities to ensure compliance with CMA’s specifications and standards, addressing any non-compliant situations promptly; interface with Sales and QC to ensure production quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality and food safety programs through regular adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibility to report any food safety or quality concerns to personnel authorized to initiate corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance, reinforcing safe work practices and addressing safety issues as needed; actively support safety initiatives.
  • Conduct scheduled and impromptu performance reviews.
  • Participate in continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and recommending changes within the area of responsibility.
  • Confirm and verify hours worked for all direct reports.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

What We Want From You

  • 1-5 years of supervisory experience in a food production environment; preferably within the meat industry.
  • 3-8 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in a goal-oriented production environment.
  • Working knowledge of computer.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 annually, based on experience.
