SUMMARY

The Lead is responsible for supervising and leading the department employees and ensuring that there are efficient well-trained processes in place that will ensure quality, on-time and safe output.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts Root Cause analysis of problems within the department and engages employees in resolution of the problems
  • Drives continuous process improvement
  • Leads employees in department to meet and exceed company goals and objectives.
  • Creates a continuous improvement environment
  • Motivates team members and develops teamwork
  • Drives process improvement and adherence to standards
  • Monitors safety, quality and productivity and makes recommendations for improvements in each of these areas
  • Recognizes and rectify bottleneck situations within the department
  • Provides training resources to ensure that employees within the department are fully trained
  • Records attendance within the electronic system
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance is required

  • Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and how to use the analysis to drive improvement
  • Ability to motivate, lead and develop a team
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Lean principles and the ability to implement and sustain these principles 
  • Ability to document processes
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blue prints
  • Ability to read, understand, and convey complex instructions
  • Ability to train and explain in terms that an untrained employee will understand
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and databases. 
  • Ability to solve problems involving several variables in varied situations.
  • The ability and skills to establish and maintain priorities.
  • Familiar with Military Specifications and Standards a plus
  • Must be self-motivated, show initiative and be pro-active
  • Manufacturing experience

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
