Summary:

Under direct supervision, with latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, this position oversees all aspects of A/V/L for Church of the City Nolensville. This role also participates in A/V/L needs for midweek events at COTC Franklin. Additionally, this role serves as a support to all day to day operations of the Citywide production department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

COTC Nolensville

  • Lead the load in and out, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all A/V/L equipment, completed to a high standard of excellence.
  • Participate in Sunday morning A/V/L needs. Serving in rotating positions as needed, including camera op, lighting op, audio engineer, video op, auxiliary room support, etc.
  • Act as Production Manager for special events, including but not limited to Christmas, Easter, recording projects, worship gatherings etc.
  • Oversee the training of church staff and volunteers to use production equipment to match industry standards. 
  • Provide ongoing training to staff and volunteers for skill improvement.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Nolensville Pastor and staff for operations, tactical and Sunday service planning. 

COTC Franklin

  • Attend weekly meetings as required by the Production Director - weekly tactical meetings, staff meetings, and seasonal planning meetings as assigned.
  • Support the A/V/L needs of internal/COTC owned events that may/may not occur during typical office hours.  

COTC Citywide

  • Serves all COTC locations in their A/V/L needs, on an as-needed basis. 
  • Provide monthly check-ins to evaluate production needs, and creative planning for set/lighting design.

Required Competencies and General Skills:

A successful candidate possesses competency and demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Strong knowledge of audio systems and large-format digital mixing consoles
  • Familiarity with Yamaha Rivage and Behringer X32 series is a preferred
  • Experience with digital audio networks (e.g., Dante) and personal monitoring systems
  • Deep understanding of media production within the context of worship services
  • Experience with live broadcast video environments, including multi-camera setups and video switchers
  • Proficiency with presentation software such as ProPresenter and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of video transmission systems, projectors, and display technology
  • Knowledge of theatrical, intelligent, LED, and video lighting systems
  • Familiarity with the Vista Lighting Console is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and master new technologies quickly
  • Strong understanding of AVL signal flow and troubleshooting across all technical systems

Must possess general computer skills, including proficiency with Google Suite. Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Capable of adhering to deadlines, managing multiple diverse assignments, and executing tasks effectively. Exhibits practical time management skills and works well in team settings. Demonstrates innovation by suggesting improvements within the scope of work, anticipating needs, and creating efficient, effective processes. Self-motivated, takes ownership of tasks, and shows flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations.

Membership Requirement:

Church of the City employees are required to become a Stakeholder of the church within the first 6 months of employment and agree to the beliefs, standards and responsibilities outlined in the Stakeholder Agreement.  

Qualifications:

A Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and is in complete agreement with the Church of the City’s Statement of Faith. Represents and upholds Church of the City’s mission, vision, and culture by demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and learning posture. The incumbent is willing to become a stakeholder of COTC within six months of hire.

Education: A High School Level education, or its equivalent required; baccalaureate degree preferred.

Experience

  • Formal training in Audio Engineering, Technical Production, or a related field preferred
  • Extensive hands-on experience with technology in a contemporary worship production setting
  • Preferred experience serving as a Technical Director or similar leadership role at a church with 1,000+ in weekly attendance
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-room worship environments is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift or carry up to 50lbs

Ability to sit for extended periods

Ability to work at a keyboard and other related equipment

Ability to move about to accomplish tasks related to role

Skills Required
