The Production Coordinator II is responsible for organizing the daily work of one or more manufacturing cells. Based on forecasted and actual demand, raw material lead time, manufacturing lead time, and production capacity, they create work orders in the company’s ERP system and release them to the manufacturing floor.

The Production Coordinator is also responsible for material-handling tasks required to support the daily manufacturing schedule. This includes performing inventory transactions to issue and assign parts and materials by counting, handling, kitting and delivering parts and materials to the appropriate manufacturing locations.

They may also support other manufacturing support operations such as purchasing, inventory management, and ERP management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Exercise discretion and use judgement to plan and implement production schedules for multiple work centers or cells.
  • Communicate production plans to operations management and update relevant visual management tools to indicate progress.
  • Use the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to create and release work orders based on forecasted and actual demand.
  • Coordinate material usage and certification to the production floor.
  • Develop and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning and implement solutions based on actual performance.
  • Input production performance parameters into the ERP software.
  • Review raw material, work in progress (WIP), and finished good inventory as needed to support production planning processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience in a production planning role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and decipher engineering blueprints and specifications.
  • Experience using an ERP software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience manipulating data in relevant software such as Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain management, or similar.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience and knowledge of FAA or AS9100 requirements.
  • APICS certification.
  • Understanding of Kanban inventory management techniques
  • Lean Manufacturing Green Belt Certification.
