The Role

About this role

The Preqin Research Insights team at BlackRock produces more than 75 high-impact research reports annually, delivering data-driven insights across the private markets landscape. We are seeking a Production Assistant to join our team and play a key role in the layout, formatting, and production of these reports, identifying and implementing AI tools and solutions across the workflow. This role is ideal for a technically skilled designer and self-starter also expected to contribute to our AI-enabled future—identifying where AI can improve user workflows and where it must be applied thoughtfully with transparency, controls, and measurable value.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, format, and produce research reports and publications using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and identify and establish efficiencies through range of software platforms

  • Explore, test, and help develop AI-enhanced production workflows—including AI agents that streamline chart creation, automate formatting tasks, and support scalable report production.

  • Collaboration with engineering/data/ML partners to translate user needs into AI-assisted capabilities

  • Create and output a high volume of charts and tables from complex Excel and data-rich inputs, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across reports with quality checks, and delivery for digital and print publication

  • Collaborate with editorial, production, and research teams to translate technical content into clean, accessible, and visually engaging charts and layouts

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines while upholding high standards of quality and precision.

  • Familiarity with AI product patterns and risks: understanding of model limitations, evaluation approaches, and product mechanisms to improve reliability

  • Contribute to the improvement of templates, workflows, and production processes, ensuring efficiency and repeatability across our output

  • Support the team in maintaining version control, asset management, and documentation of standard operating procedures

  • Provide occasional off-hours support during peak publication periods

What we’re looking for

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a design or production role, ideally within financial services publishing

  • Hands-on comfort using AI tools in daily work with appropriate judgment and confidentiality

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or a related field preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop with ability to pivot quickly into more efficient alternatives

  • Strong understanding of typography, layout composition, and visual hierarchy

  • Experience designing long-form content such as research reports, whitepapers, or editorial publications

  • Confidence working with data-heavy content, including the ability to interpret data packs and output accurate, well-designed charts and tables

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
