The Engineering Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to drive a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage at least one product line from design to implementation and ongoing performance according to business need
  • Manage all technology standards across functional area, ensuring development, understanding and adherence around the globe
  • Set goals within functional area that are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology organizations
  • Contribute to the IT Project Leadership function to harmonize with overall business / technology objectives and ensure teams within the functional area are adequately staffed and possess the required skills sets to carry out their roles
  • Provide an environment where Subject Matter Experts can work efficiently and delivery effectively
  • Manage execution of IT strategy and roadmap for assigned technology area
  • Apply an in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within engineering and basic knowledge of those elements in other areas
  • Responsible for training and coaching team members, performance management activities, monitoring quantity and quality of work, and addressing development needs for assigned personnel
  • Assist with budget oversight, policy formulation and planning and ensure that development requests are in line with business requirements
  • Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complicated or unique situations; utilizing multiple sources of information
  • Negotiate with senior leaders (across functions) and communicate and negotiate with external parties
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role with commensurate people management experience
  • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
  • Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Proven track record of operational process change and improvement


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred



  • 10+ years of experience in monitoring solutions from architecture and design to delivery and support of complex highly scalable robust solutions.
  • Experience in designing scalable enterprise solutions with high volume, high frequency data
  • Good knowledge of self-serviced Monitoring solutions from - Real User Monitoring, Synthetic Monitoring, Application performance monitoring, Endpoint Monitoring, Compute and Storage monitoring. With solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, AppDymanics, Splunk, ElasticSearch
  • Experience in developing and coordinate cloud architecture across diverse areas including Application Development, Identity and Access Management, Network, Data management and Security to determine functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory, JIR, ansible, Terraform, Cloud Formation Templates, Puppet etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Operating Systems (Linux, RHEL, Unix, Solaris, Windows) and Enterprise Computing
  • Good Understanding of Networking (TCP/IP, IP addresses, HTTP, and DNS is an added advantage)
  • Good understanding of security (knowledge of firewall and other security components) and open source technologies
  • Experience working on large-scale projects, leading teams in an agile methodology.
  • Experience developing software utilizing various languages including Angular, Ruby, Python, Java/J2EE, C++, PHP, .NET6/core, GoLang, etc
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and UI/UX design
  • Experience in a modern microservice development framework (Spring Boot, Node.js/Express, Micro profile, Ruby on Rails, etc)
  • Experience of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, IBM) to design, create, and deploy solutions using Container/Kubernetes (Openshift, IBM Cloud Private, EKS)
  • Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry-specific specifications
  • Outstanding collaboration, communication and presentation skill are essential
