Sr. Product Manager

You'll have opportunities to further your expertise as a Sr. Product Manager (Consultant), through a multitude of  project contributions and client engagements but also through working directly with senior leadership, including the Head of Product at 8th Light.

Who You Are 

You've held positions with increasing responsibilities as a Product Management steward but also as an independent contributor, allowing for your oversight and ownership of multiple software solutions shipped to production successfully. Through your experience and collaboration with teams inside and outside of engineering and the design domain you have deepened the trust and confidence others have in Product Management’s capabilities to steer a project to beneficial outcomes for business stakeholders and users alike. You describe yourself as being most inspired when you can bring others on a journey conceptually and pragmatically. In the past, you have also successfully:

  • Gained 8+ years of experience in a software development environment (with SaaS or professional service offering).
  • Lead and scaled 3 or more software products or platforms, shepherding them from idea to production, including: scope, feature development and release planning.
  • Driven Product Management efforts for at least 5 years in a senior or lead capacity, enabling successful software products to launch.
  • Collaborated in the delivery of software products with other technologists from various disciplines including Designers, Engineers, Project Managers and Product Owners.
  • Gathered and distilled business requirements from technical and non technical stakeholders as well as customers.
  • Held customer meetings to collect product feedback and define value for users.
  • Exhibited a growth mindset to support product management teams in their ability to assess and define the business value of product lines, planning roadmaps and delivery.
  • Prioritized high-impact decisions and initiatives to balance near-term results with long-term vision.
  • Participated in company strategy through demonstrating a deep product and domain expertise to drive discussions and outcomes.
  • Facilitated opportunities to inspire and connect dots across product lines as a strategic thinker who can ‘see big picture’.
  • Demonstrated an ability to work with diverse inputs to define product vision and contribute to strategic decisions.

What You'll Do 

At 8th Light you'll nurture and support formative discussions with business leaders, technologists and customers in an effort to convert product management practices into high quality and shippable software solutions that delight. You will bring your expertise, accumulated knowledge and experience into engagements to validate objectives and support strategic alignment to customers’ desires for mutually beneficial outcomes. In addition you will: 

  • Oversee the end-to-end experience for multiple products across a portfolio of engagements concurrently.
  • Leverage human-centered design, lean and agile principles to deliver intuitive, engaging, high quality software.
  • Optimize priorities and own the Go-to-Market plans and trade-offs for releases.
  • Support innovation and the cohesion of ideas and processes that inspire creativity and new product offerings and features.
  • Define requirements, communicate strategy and roadmaps with visibility to all stakeholders.
  • Use data driven decision making for prioritization and decision making.
  • Magnify our clients’ goals for product success and adoption through leveraging of optimal technology, sales and marketing enablement strategies.
  • Maintain oversight and guidance of client engagement pricing balancing our clients’ financial targets and budget constraints.
  • Further organizational aptitude and knowledge of intersectional industry domains like, Design, Security, Observability and Cloud with 8th Light.
  • Facilitate observational research approaches and make tweaks accordingly based on feedback.
  • Drive the setting and meeting of milestones alongside the business, design and engineering teams.
  • Be an active participant in shipping product features into a production and market ready state.
  • Engage with external peers, partners and other industry contacts that evolve your knowledge of trends, latest strategies and best practices.

Nice to Have

In addition to the above stated qualifications and experience, 8th Light would also like to encourage candidates with the following to consider this opportunity:

  • A MBA or an advanced knowledge of interdisciplinary functions, like Finance, Marketing, Legal and Operations.
  • Experience selling professional services offerings to new businesses or existing accounts of enterprise size and scale.

Compensation Range for the Role: base salary range: $90,000 - $140,000 USD
