About Us

At Canva, our mission is to democratise design and empower creativity for anyone and everyone, on every platform. Inspired by a team of talented thinkers, an amazing culture and a remarkable growth trajectory – we’re out to change the world, one design at a time.

Since launch in August 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 60 million monthly active users across 190 different countries who have created more than 6 Billion designs. We are one of the world’s fastest-growing technology companies and we have only achieved about 1% of what we want to do.

Product Management at Canva

The mission of Product Managers at Canva is to create the most accessible design tool for every person in the world. We believe that we can improve the world by empowering everyone to design and communicate visually. As a Product Manager at Canva you help set this vision, define what that future looks like, and build the products and features that get us there.

Product Managers collaborate with Canva’s founders to set the strategic direction, scope, and success metrics for product initiatives. We work across teams of designers, software engineers, marketers and analysts to ensure we're delivering an exceptional experience to all our users. We are responsible for implementing and collaborating on product strategy, road mapping, and prioritisation as our product grows.

It’s our responsibility to see products through their entire lifecycle—from concept through to validation, build, post-launch analytics and iterations.

About the Reliability Platform Team

The Reliability Platform is a newly formed group in the Canva Infrastructure department, whose mission is to provide the tools, processes and support that maintain Canva’s reliability and performance for all of our millions of users. As Canva becomes an increasingly essential part of our users' lives, it has never been more important to equip our Canvanaut engineers with everything they need to build and operate reliable, resilient services that can withstand any number of disruptions that may potentially impact our availability of our product. Empowering the entire world to design means that Canva must be there for every user, when they need it most.

About You

  • You’ll have a deep passion for solving problems for engineers, to ultimately accelerate Canva’s hyper-ambitious goals. You’re someone who can map the gains that we can make in improving the reliability of our production services to overall improvements to our end-user experience
  • You’re deeply passionate about building reliable cloud services at scale
  • You thrive in environments where you’re enabling others to do great things, by doing great things yourself
  • You’re excited by the challenge of driving cultural transformation while leading through influence
  • You’re a strong communicator - you can tailor how you speak about developer efficiency and high-performance engineering teams when working across different specialities and part of the business to drive big outcomes
  • You’re great at balancing long-term vision and strategy with regularly delivering impactful outcomes that bring us closer to that vision
  • You’re comfortable moving forward even if we don’t have the all the information available to us, balancing first-principles reasoning with the data that we do have at hand

Goals you'll achieve in your first 3 months...

  • Onboard to Canva, and become familiar with the existing software development & release engineering landscape
  • Audit the existing reliability tools and processes, and document the existing reliability user experience
  • Build relationships with key reliability engineering Canvanauts

Goals you'll achieve from 3-12 months...

  • Drive adoption of weekly and quarterly operational rituals across all service teams, using standardised tools built by Reliability Platform
  • Build and drive adoption of the default operational tools (alerting, metrics, reporting etc.) that all Canvanaut engineers will use to manage their production services
  • Drive a “shift left” program to ensure reliability concerns are dealt with as early in the release engineering process as possible

What you'll do

  • Define the vision and roadmap for operational user experience that enables engineering service teams to operate their services at scale
  • Champion a “shift-left” culture for reliability, working with other Infrastructure PMs to enable teams to easily account for reliability considerations during development
  • Drive the maturity of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) ad Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across Canva
  • Own the vision and roadmap for our future resiliency platform (chaos testing, load testing, performance testing etc.)

Experience you'll have

  • Experience working in a high-growth technology company, with experience with reliability engineering a huge plus
  • A strong communicator - can speak the language of engineering, data, design, operations and can coordinate cross-functionally with each to achieve big wins. Someone who knows how to tailor their message to their specific audience, be it team members, peers or senior stakeholders
  • Experience driving cultural change and internal adoption of tools, patterns and practices
  • Appreciates the importance of a reliable, resilient product in today’s technology landscape
  • Great with data (both qualitative and quantitative) and loves turning insights into actions.
  • Can effectively balance multiple competing priorities to formulate a roadmap that delivers meaningful outcomes

What you'll learn at Canva

  • How to drive cultural and organisational change in a hyper-growth environment
  • How to drive a product-led mindset within internal engineering teams
  • How to deliver reliability outcomes as key user deliverable

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

One of Canva’s core values is to Make Complex Things Simple. We find innovative ways to make legal concepts more approachable to non-lawyers and reduce the need to involve Legal with every move. By removing complexities we encourage an environment of trust and openness for our internal stakeholders and our millions of users.

What's something quirky about your company?

Season Openers are company events where Canva celebrates our wins and rallies around our goals. They're also some of the most over-the-top and quirky events you'll ever see. On my first day, at my first season opener, I learned about Canva through a Hollywood-worthy parody of "The Office"— I knew then I had found my new home!
