Product Architect Consultant
Job Summary
The Product Architects are the key drivers behind the success of the delivery of new and enhanced product offerings to the insurance market. Candidates will be in partnership with the Underwriting and Product Development teams, just to name a few, and will have the ability to get in on the ground floor in learning forms templating within the Documaker and Smart Communications applications. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual who is a team player and will be r esponsible for supporting the delivery of new and enhanced product offerings to the insurance market by designing and implementing the key hierarchical models that support the configuration of each product. Candidates will create and maintain product definitions in a centralized repository, including the creation of project and coverage objects, design, and customized product specification documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Acts as lead for major product initiatives including establishing project plans, resource allocation, identification and management of inter-department dependencies.
- Impact analyses of planned vendor upgrades and/or new technology initiatives to existing business practices, workflows and technology platforms.
- Performs maintenance of product configurations into centralized repository, including table updates, product publishing and creation of product specification documentation.
- Designs, develops, tests and deploys specific rate, rule, and form changes using Guidewire's Product Configuration suite, Documaker, and Smart Communications' form production applications in order to support speed and quality to market objectives.
- Prepares, tests and deploys forms for Specialty products to Guidewire and other policy administration systems.
- Provides support to product development during major product initiatives, including retrieval of existing forms, usage analysis and extraction of statistical data from policy administration and reporting systems.
- Executes and/or distributes weekly, monthly and quarterly production reports for management review.
- Provides customer support including training needs for product management tools.
- Documents, distributes and maintains underwriting services processes and controls.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of business, IT and insurance industry functions as they pertain to the Product Management cycle, including Product Development, Underwriting, Claim, Legal, Regulatory, IT/Operations, Marketing, and Finance.
- Strong technical skills including the understanding of systems development methodologies, tools, and rating hardware/software platforms.
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Adobe and other related software systems. Experience with Guidewire, Documaker, Smart Communications, SQL Server Management Studio and Insbridge a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of four years related work experience.
