Role Summary
Provides continuous and visible leadership for the current Networking (i.e. Dark Fiber, Wavelength, Ethernet, SD-WAN, etc.) product performance and future development and deployment plans; Accountable for and serves as the authority on all aspects of the Networking product portfolio's lifecycle including: development, launch, customer experience, financial and operating metrics, enhancement priorities and product roadmaps; Recognized as top subject matter expert on developing and launching Networking products, services and enhancements in a manner that ensures boundary team engagement & alignment and achievement of business case objectives. Champions product launch excellence, standardization and evolution of the process to align with the business need to launch in a more agile methodology, gathering learnings to feed back into subsequent product iterations and continual process improvement. Leads cross-functional teams by example demonstrating passion and drive to satisfy customer needs and optimize customer experience through product innovation and/or improvements to internal organization, processes and technology. Makes budget decisions to commit resources to address/balance customer needs. Operates with complete latitude within operational parameters. Negotiates critical and controversial issues with executive leadership on ideas and solutions that impact industry and/or corporate results. Develops, or provides guidance to develop, innovative solutions to highly complex and/or emerging technologies. Champions, provides influence and leadership to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders on ideas and solutions that impact industry and/or corporate results. Leads, develops and coaches managers and exempt professional or technical staff. May operate as an individual contributor on some projects with considerable influence company wide.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions• Accountable for the completion of product development and launch projects and achievement of business objectives through planning, budgeting, resourcing, and monitoring accuracy of work, etc. Ensures success through adequate resourcing of initiatives. • Manage and review allocated budgets and actual spend for product development and lifecycle activities across portfolio and make adjustments to budgets and forecasts as necessary for success.• Serves as champion for product portfolio to obtain necessary executive sponsorship. Directly and indirectly influences others to garner needed resources and support. • Provides leadership, development, mentorship and business insights to product development and management team. Typically manages a team of Sr. Managers and Managers.• Oversees the identification of customer expectations and unmet needs related to product and services in order to address gaps and enhance customer experience. Directs product portfolio from ideation through deployment.• Contributes to the determination of targets, and guides team in the interpretation of metrics and underlying drivers to develop optimal recommendations. • Reviews and finalizes documented product vision to ensure alignment with customer needs, market and competitive trends and corporate strategy.• Develops product portfolio strategic vision; directs team to translate strategy into clear and defined business requirements. • Provides oversight in the development of business cases that define the product value proposition to support product and services roadmap investments.• Direct the prioritization of product improvements and necessary resources across the product portfolio to optimize customer experience and strengthen financials.• Facilitates communication amongst relevant stakeholders to maintain alignment and awareness of current product state and vision. • Directs the optimization of operational practices and procedures to drive efficiencies. • Monitors developments within the industry, vendor community and technology trends and considers these in light of product roadmaps. Serves as Cox representative and spokesperson at industry events.

Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience required in related field (e.g. Technology, Marketing, Process Improvement, etc.)
  • 3 or more years of experience in a management role; directly leading a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.
  • Demonstrated strong technical and market knowledge.
  • Significant experience in telecommunications or high-tech environment.

Preferred

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g. Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Advanced degree preferred (Master's degree, etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience in a management role preferred; directly leading a team
  • Thorough business and financial acumen coupled with an obsessive focus on the customer experience
  • Significant technical aptitude and/or understanding of the Networking space, underlying networks and related services are required
  • Significant SD-WAN and broader virtualization experience strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a change agent in gaining senior management support and sustained engagement in significant initiatives.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • The ability to lead and drive consensus on complex issues across a matrixed organization is critical.
