The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance (AD) Product Security Engineering (PSE) organization is seeking an Experienced Product Security Engineer located in Berkeley, MO.
The candidate will provide technical support for product cyber security and resiliency engineering for all phases of the hardware design and development lifecycle including requirements and interface definition, architectural design, procurement & supplier management, and integration of Edge compute, communications, and encryption hardware in support of segment development. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development of engineering solutions and practices for key System capabilities including, but not limited to:

You are going to be part of Boeing's AD PSE Organization, which is a growing multi-disciplinary cybersecurity engineering organization, that is responsible for the cyber security and resiliency of our embedded systems within products, platforms, and services. The AD PSE team's portfolio spans exciting programs such as F/A-18 Super Hornet/Growlers, F-15 Eagle/Eagle II, MQ-25 Stingray, T-7A Red Hawk, F-22 Raptor and multiple Phantom Works efforts. Primary responsibilities for this position span across Air Dominance program(s) and products, including the design and development of next generation embedded systems.
The AD PSE must be able to consistently, pro-actively recognize and work through a wide range of challenges and bring to resolution. These positions involve implementing appropriate security controls and requirements per JSIG, DoD and ICD 503 RMF, NISPOM, or DoD Overprint to the NISPOM as required by customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the systems architecture, design and development from the conceptual platform level down to physical hardware for all required deployments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and document system requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient hardware designs
- Utilize MBSE to validate that designs meet program functional and non-functional requirements
- Manage performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
- Conduct program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership
- Evaluate and design appropriate cloud compute and communications solutions and services to support the development of systems
- Generate procurement specs and manage suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of all segment components
- Define and enforce architectural standards, best practices, and guidelines for the development team
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues related to hardware architectures
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in edge compute technologies
- Drive team training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing of overarching system.
- Work across program stakeholders and subject matter experts in various engineering disciplines (Operational Analysis, Software Engineering, Mission Systems Hardware/Software, Flight Simulation, etc.)
- Support the development, implementation, and sustainment of product security for Phantom Works avionics systems, throughout the requirements, design, analysis, build, test, production, operations, support and sustainment lifecycle
- Coordinate with partners and system-of-systems product security counterparts for requirements, activities, artifacts, and solutions
- Coordinate with other engineering stakeholders - systems, software, and hardware - advising on the results of security analysis - to develop secure architectures and designs
- Assist in establishing, and integrating standards and processes for product security engineering for embedded avionics development, and meet applicable program/certification requirements
- Utilize the Risk Engineering digital thread to inform product requirements surrounding cyber survivability against specified cyber threats - by performing criticality, adversity, threat analysis for avionics systems
- Assist and lead in risk reduction and technology maturation activities - where appropriate - resulting in innovative solutions in product and services offering
- Implements appropriate security controls and requirements per JSIG, DoD and ICD 503 RMF, NISPOM, or DoD Overprint to the NISPOM
- Support inputs for planning, scheduling, risks, issues, and opportunity activities for cyber security
- Assist with the development of cybersecurity philosophies, patterns, requirements, secure architectures and designs
- Identify new opportunities and engage with stakeholders to define, plan, resource and deliver solutions
- Coordinating and presenting technical content to a diverse audience, as well as preparing technical documentation
- Travel (up to 25%) is required for meetings with customers, internal meetings, etc.
This position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The role on the team may require obtaining certifications such as Security+ or CISSP to comply with contract requirements.
This position requires an ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 1+ years' experience in development, integration and verification of aircraft avionics systems
- Knowledge of cyber security incident response protocols (identification, impact assessment, containment, remediation, evidence handling, technical reporting, etc.) and safeguarding information.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, an advanced degree is preferred
- Experience developing or integrating platform architectures
- Experience overseeing the design, development, and testing of engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Experience developing multi-layer security architectures (encryption, cross domain guards)
- Experience providing work instructions that support the design and documentation of system architectures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer specifications
- Experience in product cyber security for avionics systems and component level development
