1 - First Shift
Are you the type of person who is curious about how a piece of equipment will be used and how that can be done safely? In this role you will help review new product concepts to identify potential hazards and assist in evaluating appropriate safety measures using a variety of engineering tools. We’re looking for someone who understands machine systems, can analyze anticipated machine operation, and assist in solving problems.
What You’ll Do
1. Support product development and product innovation relating to product safety efforts.
2. Participate in safety related design reviews with product development design teams.
3. Evaluate product design concepts from a product safety perspective, including identifying possible hazards, reasonably foreseeable misuse, and hazard mitigation through specifying design criteria.
4. Create concepts for safety related instructional information for hazard mitigation.
What We’re Looking For
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering.
- Previous internship is a plus.
- Ability to identify the root cause of defective parts of product design solutions, including manufactured and purchased component sizing.
- Knowledge in the FEA, hydraulics, electronics, statistics and strength of materials, durability and serviceability of products.
- Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability to ensure that the right configuration and materials are developed.
Travel
- No travel is expected of this position.
Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
